Exhaust gas temp sensor... Can it be removed?

Hi guys, i was wondering if there is any way of fooling the ECU into thinking the Exhaust Gas temp sensor is still there when it has been removed?

Does anyone know what the symptoms are if they go bad? The one on my Cedric is reading 5V constantly, and i think it may have something to do with the hesitation/poor fuel economy i am getting.

Any ideas? I imagine some people have had them removed when fitting aftermarket exhausts/high flow cats... Does it make a difference?

Edit: I'm talking about the sensor thats in the Catalytic converter...

I thought that the EGT's only operated the Cat over heat warning light. I didn't think the ecu reads them. My Conzult doesn't seem to read them. Mine are disconnected which doesn't seem to affect anything, no error messages.

Thanks... I guess my problem must be elsewhere. I use Nissan TECU and it reads the sensor, but constant 5V.

Will take it out and have a look at it this weekend to see if its physically broken anyway...

It could be the EGR sensor?
