I was stationed in Nowra mid seventies to mid eighties, have they got any decent car modification places there now?

really, are you in the navy? there are a couple of small time shops that concentrate more on paint and panel but they aren't much chop, i wouldn't go there. the only one i would recommend is one my mate owns and runs, 02 Autosports. he is a well known drifter in ADGP, Nathan Weisell. he really knows his way around Nisans and a couple of the boys that work there are pretty bloody talented when it comes to dyno tuning and fabrication. check them here http://www.o2autosports.com/
many times i have thought about starting up a business ranging from detailing/window tinting, fabrication, tuning, sales and everything in between but it is a massive gamble.
the car scene in this little ghetto town is actually pretty big these days and drifting seems to be the main attraction, much to my liking :D

Was in the Navy many years ago. When I was there I drove a black E49 Charger and the Chrysler place, back then, didn't even know what one was!!

nice i love Chargers, bet you wish you kept that one. i still regret selling my HR Holden ute.
i swaped the two coilpacks around this arvo and the number 5 works so it looks like i'm up for new connectors.

tonight i replaced all the stupid blue silicone vac hoses with normal black ones and re did all the lines for the mbc. the lines are all equal length now and it sits at the very back of the plenum in the middle, looks a lot neater too.
i replaced the coilpack connector that was fried but it still hasn't fixed the misfire. i ran out of time so on sunday i'll pull out the plug and see if its firing just to rule out the injector being the culprit. if its not the injector then i'm not really sure where to look next, maybe something in the ecu?

got this bad boy in the mail yesterday....

time to start lipping and flaring fenders. gunna practice on my forked front fenders, my xr6 turbs and a couple of rides from the boys at work then if i get good i'll maybe start charging peeps for doing jobs on the side. fender flaring and buff jobs are us.

in the quest for finding my misfire i have replaced the coilpack connectors, cleaned the connections on the stinking series 1 ptu only to have it stop working altogether which led me to replace it with a series 2. i charged the battery for 24hrs, checked and cleaned the plugs and it still misses
it's definately number 5 because when i take off the coilpack connector the engine note stays the same. any ideas anyone??
    my head hurts.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but so far you've swapped coilpacks over & cleaned connectors? Have you also tried another spark plug in number 5? How bad is the miss?

I only just thought of that last night, it will be a massive face palm if that's the case. That plug has no spark at all.
All the other stuff needed doing anyway so it wasn't a total waste of time.

car is running again!! i can't explain why but it is. today i replaced the sparkplug on no.5, fired it up and it ran right for about 5 seconds then started missing again. thought to myself maybe the coilpack has died so i swapped no.5 and no.2 over, that way the miss would be on the right side bank and i could tell for sure. when i fired it up it ran perfect, idled and after i ran it for a while to clean it out (its been sitting around for ages) it kept getting smoother. WTF!!
it does have a very slight miss or flutter, i don't know how to explain it, when i give it a gut full of revs but otherwise its pretty good.
so after all the messing around i now have new coilpack connectors, series 2 PTU, new black and neat vac and boost controller pipes, a wiring harness that needs re-wrapping and hiding and one happy zed.
i'm also getting ECUtalk soon so i can do better testing when that rocks up. :br:

and my GoPro 3 black edition. its a mission to learn how to properly load, convert and edit vids but i'm getting there.

took the zed for a drive on the weekend and it drives really smooth and responsive. it's only running 10 pounds boost at the moment but it still fries the tyres in second with ease. all in all it's been a very productive week.

my zed has been living out at my mums property for the last three and a half years which is pretty far from where i live. that meant i was lucky to get a maximum 2hrs work a week done on it and i got jack of it and decide to tow it home..

straight away i got stuck into hiding some wiring. this means i first had to make a massive mess..

im separating the coilpack wires and injector wires into two individual harnesses on either side and slipping them under the plenum from the back..

this is where the coilpack wires sit, the injector wires will run alongside the injectors..

one out of four finished. i also moved the throttle cable so it runs down the center of the plenum. i eventually want to make a custom throttle cover to hide the stuff in the center..

    getting neater..

i had to buy bigger conduit today to wrap the loom on the firewall. after all this messing around the car started missing again. i stood back, glared at the car, then angrily started shaking my fist at it, FFFFFUUUUU!! FML!

Spur of the moment decision to hide the fuse box and clean up the wires. bit of a mission but it's looking good and will most likely turn into a full engine bay clean up and wire tuck. as usual i finish one bit and then realise a better way i could have done it so, it gets redone.

I like that i can see down to the turbo now.

I'm putting the fuse box here at the front of the chassis rail. I'll make up a sealed box to put it in and to keep water out, plus the wires have yet to be securely mounted. the PTU wires run through the hole where the stock overflow tank used to sit, under the head light and it will bolt to the chassis rail on the otherside to the fuse box. i want to keep in front of the radiator clear so i can make a duct from the intercooler to seal it all up.

I'd mount it on the other side of the chassis rail so you don't have to take off the front bar to change a fuse...

looks good. shame about that big snake along the top of the passenger side chassis rail, that's my next thing to make disappear

yeah I'd like to hide that too but as you most probably know the wires are pretty much stretched to the limit now. have you ever thought of trying to fit the PTU in the cabin, or does it get too hot?

Pretty sure DUB relocated the PTU to next the the ECU in passenger foot-well.
