thanks man your too kind. trust me this build has been more error than trail. i made a lot of mistakes earlier on but this year i've made more progress than ever just by doing things right and making sure it looks good. these days if im not happy with something i'll rip it out and start again.

well i haven't had any updates for a while so i thought i better just post something. there hasn't been a lot of time or money to do anything lately but i have been sanding and smoothing my timing belt covers the last couple of weeks. i don't have a lot of time to do much work at home during the week between work, home life, my martial arts and weights training, mountain biking and family. i actually took the covers to work and have resorted to frequently sanding them in work time. my supervisor often walks over and asks "is that work related?", to which i reply "well im at work and im doing this with work products so i guess it is, yes". he just shakes his head and walks off, meh!
i've also been cutting and shutting some alloy to make up a box for the battery to be hidden in the cabin. i'll take the bits and pieces to the blokes at the muffler shop to weld togther but really im just winging it for now about size and placement.
well, thats about it for a while, can't wait to do some skids :br:

finally got the timing covers rubbed back and smoothed out the bolt bosses and ribs. i filled the holes with fibreglass and rubbed it all back smooth, now i have to fill in some tiny holes with some putty then re prime them. im thinking of painting them a nice silver.

it took so freekin long to rub these back after i had already painted them once.
i moved the fuel filter to the passenger side inner guard. since the battery tray is gone i just used the hole thats usually below it to run the fuel lines through. im not really sold on the whole concept just yet, i'd like to make an alloy cover to shelter it from rocks and other debris.

i actually used the original mounting bracket and just bent it inwards as far as i could to fit snugly where the prvr used to sit.

here's a couple of pics of the plenum without all the pipes and wires running down the sides. engine is a mess at the moment but it will look better after paint and powdercoating everything. there is still so much stuff to move or delete.

true but my guard liners got trashed when some moron side swiped my car, hence the gun metal grey passenger side guard. plus i want to lip the guards soon, i don't its possible to bolt the liners on after that.

Run one and a half feet of guard liner, from the sill upwards. Protects the filter, doesn't clash with rolled guards.

underneath is a mess so i won't get any pics till its all cleaned up. i'll get it all prepped up and painted in a couple of weeks after our holiday. decided i'm not going to try anything fancy, just going to paint it satin black straight up the center the width of the Aero catches and leave the outside edges body colour. it'll do until i can afford a different bonnet.

Battery box and dry cell battery time. i bought a Pulse dry cell battery ages ago for $250 from Autobarn but only recently got the box. i cant remember the specs on the battery but it is really really small :D
im not really fussed about getting flashy carbon battery boxes or anything like that so i went looking for cheap black plastic ones. Supercheap wanted $33 for just the box so i went to BCF where they have great prices for battery and electrical components. i got the box for $14 from them and then went to Bunnings and got a length of threaded rod, nylock nuts, flat and spring washers and wingnuts for $13. i already had an adjustable width battery strap from Bunnings which was about $5 so i modified that to fit and now its all bolted in for $1 dollar less ( not including battery) than the price of just the box at Supercrap.

this is everything except for a 3mm thick plate of metal, 50mm wide by 250mm long i had laying around which i used to go under the floor pan and span the width of the battery and bolt the threaded rod to.

    where its going

    AAAHHH a lion!

    all bolted in
    [IMG]

next up is wiring it up. i will go to Steves Speed Shop in Albion park and get one of those junction thingys that bolt to the firewall and you run the wires to that instead of putting them through a grommet.

i got off my ass and painted the bonnet satin black today. its no show piece but it'll do until i can afford something aftermarket.

i have left the outside edges blue just for something different. im thinking of putting a white pinstripe along the black edge.

i'll leave it for a few days then fit the window washers and AeroCatch latches back on.

Looks killer. What manufacture is that front bar? I know it's GReddy design.

thanks man, im pretty certain its a UAS version of a GReddy. there are no stamps or anything on it so im just guessing.

Yeah, looks like it come to think of it. UAS bar has 2" less overhang on the front so with a side on shot I should be able to tell.

Getting black FMIC couplers? I have blue right now and I despise it with a passion.

yeah definately getting all couplers and silicone pipes in black. i hate my front mount pipes so im going to try and knock up some custom ones, i see no need in them being so long and complex. my front bar sits high enough to clear most things so i reckon its a UAS.
