    IB ?????

Gearboxes are not manufactured in US (made in Japan) so duty still applies.

Not if it is sold out of the states...

I have not yet heard of Simon take someones money and not send a product. When he knows someone, he does not waste their time as his gets wasted a lot by people making enquiries about products they could easily research the net for. His website is quite comprehensive and does not warrant enquiries.

Incorrect Geoff. Fot items to qualify as duty free under the Aust-USA Free Trade Agreement, the items must be wholly or significantly made in the USA (or Aust for the reverse direction). Providing a false declaration is a criminal act with significant penalties if caught. Any shipper providing false origin declarations on either side of the ocean would be taking a risk.

Macman's Group Buy - New OEM Manual Gearbox

    Hi Macman,

Sounds like a great idea to me:)

I didn't think your $2119.00 was too expensive at all... (Delivered and all.)

Using the current exchange rate = (0.8577) that's a total of:

    $2470.00

So who else is in then? June is good.

    Cheers.

P.S. Fleet had also offered to get some for us see his previous thread here:

Take Advantage of the high Aussie Dollar while you can.

    Hmm

I never said that, it's just the lack of comunication doesn't make me feel comfortable parting with that amount of money.

    ask fleety

Unfortunately fleet can't do any better than I can.

So lets see a show of hands.
Everything payed for, box, tax, customs, shipping international and national, if I can do it under $3000 who is interested?

Also I'll try and contact Simon at TTzed and get a price.
    TTzed TT box $3700
    NA Box $3200
    About $180 shipping.

No what Simon does is takes the order and tells you he's going to send the item and an invoice the next day. Except he never gets round to doing it and he ignores all emails and phone calls. He screwed me around for 2 weeks even though I told him it was urgent. He lost $600 of my business.

Yeh so I wouldn't even buy a tt gearbox from him if it was $50 - coz i'd never get it anyway.

Is that $180 shipping CONFIRMED in an email from Coz as the cost to ship to Australia? He specifically states that the US$120 cost is for ground shipping within the US only - all others to get a quote from him.

I think you should allow for the possibility of being whacked $400+ for duty and GST as well.

    Sorry I'm confusing people

COZ confirmed in email prices if we get 5 people.
    Box $1799 US
Shipping $1600 US for all five to Australia
    Tax ?
    Customs/Duty ?
Total each about $2120 US + Tax + duty
    $2700 AUS+ Tax + duty

    TTzed from website
    TT box $3700
    NA Box $3200
    shipping max. in Australia $180
Total each at web site price NA $3380
    TT $3880

So really they look about the same. I think easiest way would be through TTzed as we are sure of the price, no tax or customs etc. Only problem is getting hold of him.

    Price from Nissan

FYI I checked the price from my local nissan and it is $4300 pickup. They don't quote trade over the phone but from previous experience it's around 15% discount so just under $3600.

I can get these at trade if there is serious interest so that's a bit better than the TTzed price.

Great, thanks for clearing that up.

I've dealt with Simon personally on several occasions with no problems. If this ends up being a real serious proposal, I can speak to him on your behalf; however I'm not taking over this GB myself. I'd like a new gearbox, but not this year.

    TTz faith restored

Just got an email from Simon about 3 days after sending him one. He is working on prices for NA and TT manual gear boxes sent from japan via sea then shipped ex Melbourne. So hold tight he thinks he might be able to beat coz's price:D . Would be a simpler purchase too.

i might be interested at 2200 but i hat the idea of paying all the duties , i just dont get why we get ripped off on eveything here if they can sell it for 2200 in the us after there taxes why cant we just get it straight from japan with our taxes for a similar price
