Hey Guys, I think the Zds can benefit from these. We can have our 2.5 or 3" systems and when cruising around the car will be nice and quiet. When jumping on it, the valve opens inside the muffler to redirect the flow for straight through flow. Anyone using such technology? Peter
Thanks Rob, I was thinking more this style, http://www.dynomax.com/mufflers/dynomax-vt-mufflers they work automatically without the need to be activated by the user also no solenoids, wiring or vacuum, all that stuff.
I have the varex units with the remote control. Batteries in the remote have been flat for at least 2 years. They do work well tho.
I have varex mufflers on my audi, other than the convenience of quiet and loud, I'm not a big fan of the sound of them.
The reason for this question is b/c I just recently got my Z tuned by Toshi. The limitation was the exhaust. I have 2.5" till the last 1/4 bit where the pipes and mufflers are 2.25" press bent. The mufflers are quite restrictive but so damn quiet. It was specially built this way to keep it quiet for long drives but it hits a wall and power drops off sharply after that. Damn... Car makes 18psi nice and steady like a flat line. 225RWK on a dyno that reads 15kw less than everyone elses I was told. 640mn torque! Then hits the wall and DIES. So now looking at mufflers with some technology. I can't stand drone even when just thinking about it drives me nuts. Anyway, nothing urgent, just for down the track. I thought to ask if anyone here is using these twin mode mufflers.
Quad resonators (hot dogs?) have already been fitted. Two per side! Two years ago I changed the last bit to full 2.5" with proper 2.5" land cruiser turbo mufflers. The drone drove me nuts and a month or two later I took it back and changed back to this current system. The system does have a 'H' pipe fitted. I have noticed that mufflers make a huge difference when it comes to drone. I will look into dual mode mufflers and even if I have to purchase one per 6 mths I will be happy. But trying to find them, looks like I'm inventing the wheel with this.
