2 years on as a weekend project car.

Picked her up in 2009. Sat in the shed for around 2 months figuring out the plan of attack.

Pretty rough state. Someone had painted it in what looked like a spray pack orange. Whole engine bay was painted in a flat black as well as door jams.
All flaking and orange peel. no prep work whatsoever.

However engine was pretty sound, Later on i decided to convert to TT.

Pretty much all help over the time was from a good mate and panel beater.
Plan to get it painted at the end of the year, or sooner.

Some images may not be in order.

Then one nice summers day, out of nowhere after a few stubs. Just got stuck into it. THE FUN BEGINS!

At this point we started focusing on door jams and roof.
Reparing any dints, filling any minor imperfections.
Roof had a few small dints to be pulled out above the windscreen.

Still much more to come! Ive got a lot of catching up to do

There was a few clumps through the primer, but they rubbed out fine
    any pinholes were then refilled.

And there isnt a whole lot of room
too much crap in our shed.

would love to get rid of some of the tables and crap.
its good the boat is now outside anyway.

It was a dead project of my fathers.

    Epic epic is EPIC!

So glad you've started posting pics Alex. About time you showed everybody what you've been up to.
Been watching your Z get smaller and scarier as you've stripped it down over the last 18 months

You are really dedicted. ( cross between dedicated and addicted :p )

Kudos to Brayden too, he does excellent panel and paint work

This car has been a massive part of my life for the past 2 years now, I'm the guy you see in most of the photos. I've got a lot more photos I'll post up eventually.

A few more of the finer details of the car that we've done include -

-shaving the aerial hole in the quarter panel
-welding all unnecessary holes in the engine bay
-will be welding a few seams also
    -relocating battery to boot
    -delete hi-cas
    -relocate fuse box
-re route and hide as much wiring as possible in the bay
-whole under car has been chassis blacked and stripped out interior I gave a blow over as well
-attempting led tail lights, Alex has way too much patience for it, kudos!
-black roof strips for a cleaner look as well
-2k spec front bar and I hoped I've convinced Alex for a big front mount to fill the hole ;)
-cream seats and trim pack has been done and we'll do something with the dash/console facias too

I'm pretty pedantic when it comes to cars so I've made sure everything has been top notch even to the point of hi filling inside doors etc, extra hi fill primer has also been applied to all panels which has allowed me to block it down more resulting in a straighter car.
Much more work to come, I'm excited myself to see the end result, should be a very nice zed!

    Stay tuned,
    Wilko

No hicas there obviously, he means the mounting holes in the engine bay.
