VIC Doug red32 Memorial cruise - Sunday 25th October

Howdy all, its time again for the annual "Doug red32 memorial cruise". Just to set the scene, Dougy (forum name; red32) was a long term member of this forum. He was a great guy, who helped many people on this forum. In addition, he was a great friend to some of us old timers who had the pleasure of knowing him. Tragically, Doug passed away in July 2014 from a heart attack. Since he loved his Z32 and this forum, what better way to remember him than going on an awesome cruise.

The first memorial cruise was held last year on November 9th which happened to be Dougs Birthday. It was a great day with 27 cars, awesome weather, awesome people and some interstate visitors (the gmbrezzo clan). This year, the route will be completely different to last years route. I'm hoping we can have another awesome day this year! Please add your name to the list and lets make this happen.

The aus300zx forum is currently in need of some funds for upgrades and maintenance. As such, I'm hoping we can do some fund raising at this event. I was hesitant to do this on a memorial drive, but knowing how much Doug loved this forum community, I'm sure he would have been the first to donate some money to keep it going. However, aside from the forum, I also want this money to go to an even more important cause. Therefore, whatever money is raised on the day, half will go to the forum and the other half will be donated to the Heart Foundation. I won't set a value for donations, but I'm hoping we can get more of the money that folds rather than the sort that jingles.

When: Sunday, 25th of October

Time: Meet at 9am. STRICT departure at 9:30am.

Meeting location: Burvale Hotel / Dan Murphys Burvale, corner of Springvale Rd and Burwood Hwy, Vermont South. Please make your way to the large rear car park. If you can?t see my blue Zed or anyone else Zed, you?re in the wrong car park.

These days everyone either has a smart phone or GPS unit for navigation. I really advise people to open the map link I have provided and program this exact route into whatever device you use for navigation. Many of the roads on this cruise are small twisty country roads and some of the turn offs and street changes are not that clear when driving. As such, if you miss the turn off, you'll be on your own as options to turn around will be limited. We will try and keep everyone together to prevent this, but most people know how hard this is with that many cars on the cruise. So if you can, please program it into what ever Sat Nav you use.

CRUISE INFO
Please arrive at the meet location on time (or even slightly earlier if you can). We will have a quick cruise briefing at 9:15am and I will have maps and further details to give out on the day. I'm pretty strict with time, and we will be leaving at 9:30am sharp. This is to try and ensure some clear roads on the cruise before they fill up with Utes, and family SUVs going for a nice Sunday drive. Please also ensure that you have a full tank of petrol. The cruise has a total distance of 212 kms, plus whatever extra kilometres for your journey home from Healesville. We will NOT be stopping at petrol stations along the cruise and I cannot guarantee what sort of petrol stations we will encounter in the country towns that we will pass through.

This is really weird, I had a dream last night that Jenny was driving a red NA zed.

I was watching her and asked where she got it from. She answered it was Dougie's, He gave it to her !!!! WTF

Bit freaked out ATM
