Geez what a pain in the arse was it going there.I went there yesterday to make some enquries about what sort of mufflers to get and so-on. Initially I get a, "Are you here to make an enquiry?". I say "yeah, i'm looking to get some rear mufflers"... Lady walks off not telling me whats going on..I'm standing at the desk 10 minutes later I decide to sit down. 10 minutes later a guy comes out and asks me a few questions and thought we were getting somewhere. Then he walks off. I go back to sitting down. 30 minutes later he walks back in. Doesn't say anything to me as I'm just sitting there. He starts calling people on the phone, chasing up business, while i'm sitting there waiting for some assistance. I don't want to interupt him but I decide to ask him for his opinion on what I should get. He tells me that for $600 i won't be able to get any decent rear mufflers. Instead of him showing me, I ASK whether I can see what they've got to offer and he's says "yeah, i've got some other customers to talk to" and walks off AGAIN!So I start having a look around the workshop at the different mufflers and so-on, I have no idea what brand/cost they are, but pretend to look busy while a wait for some damn assistance. 30 minutes later, after he's walked past me on numerous occasions, I ask him whether I could try some mufflers on to see what they sound like, so I can make a decison. He sends me back to reception and I make a booking for 12 the next day.I turn up about 15 minutes early, and see Trevor (the guy i've been talking to, presumably he's the gentleman running this professional establishment) sitting at the desk. Once again he's on the phone. I sit down waiting for him to finish his call which is fair enough. He asks me what i'm there for, i remind him I made booking yesterday to try on some mufflers. He says "yeah thats right", looks at his book and confirms the booking. He then walks off into the workshop without saying anything. At this point i'm thinking, Ok maybe he's seeing whether a hoist is available. I sit down, grab a paper and wait. wait 5 minutes, 10 minutes. He comes back in, totally ignores me (I'M THE ONLY PERSON THERE!?!?!!) and starts making phone calls. By this stage i'm furious, but I'm too much of a pussy to say anything. I apologise for being a little early and ask whether he wants me to wait before I bring my car in. He then says.. "hang on" and walks off again.I sit back down. Go through a couple of magazines waiting for that moment when he says "theres a hoist ready mate, do you wanna bring your car in?". But that moment never comes. 20 minutes go by, 30, 40, 45 minutes and still no apology or even an explanation for why i'm waiting 45+ minutes. By this stage i'm saying to myself.. ok 5 more minutes and if they haven't said anything i'm OUTA HERE. I can hear him in his office crapping on about trading in his car for another 15 minutes. By this stage i'm absolutely furious and walk out.As I get in my car to drive off, my mobile starts ringing.. It's Trevor. I don't answer. A couple of minutes later Trevor calls again. I don't answer. Within the next 5 minutes Trevor calls 4 times.. Geez if he gave me that sort of attention over an hour ago he might of earnt $600+ off me..Geez I'm angry. Just thought I'd let you guys know.

that was foolish on his part

I give you credit for waiting that long. It's a wonder how he gets business with an attitude like that. He didn't just miss out on your money, he now has a bad reputation. Bad service like that can cost a company a lot in the end. Especially smaller places that depend a lot on word of mouth advertising. I can assure you I wont go there.

I think you should be glad..

...you didnt spend any money there, imagine how he would treat someone who wasnt there to spend money, like getting something done for warrenty!:N(

    I sympathise with you...

as I probably would've handled it the same way (too politely), whilst picturing in my mind various anti-social actions.Rest assured, that I will never go to him, and I will tell as many people as possible not to go to him. The idiot deserves his lack of business.CheerZ

    wow

sorry to hear dude..:( I had my X-pipe installed there and had much better service than you. He even called me the day after to see if I was happy with the X-pipe. Although I too remember having to wait for about 30min, but at the time he was genuinely busy with another customer. Ahh well, stuff him, maybe you should try daalder exhaust or another performance exhaust place. Cheers

    Thanks guys.

I think he knows it'll be bad for business, otherwise he wouldn't of called me 4 times after I left. He left me a message on my phone saying that if I've gone to lunch I can bring the car back and put it on the hoist. He should of said that when I farking got there in the first place. Dickhead...One thing I love is he had the nerve to ask me "you've got a day off today don't you.." What would be the difference if I did, you toss?! Even if it's my day off, I don't want to be there all day, and secondly, if there's going to be a delay for whatever reason at least TELL ME ABOUT IT, instead of making me sit there for an hour feeling like a complete idiot. 8-} Yeah so if you can tell everyone about this that would be great as I'm really not that happy.I went to Daalder in Preston but they had no mufflers in stock.. Maybe I'm just a bad customer??

doesnt matter how you put it

i don't think theres many people who could put up with getting messed around so much by any muffler place, and the more people who know the better.
Bad businessmen are bad business men and i know if i lived in Prahran I'd want someone to let me know if Muffler man weren't up to the task of outfitting my z with an exhaust.

People are always so scared by defamation...

and the thought of being sued. If you say something thats true, i.e. how long you waited and that their service is crap then they can sue you as much as they like, they'll never win.

    Not quite.......>>

I recently did a bit of research on the subject and this is a brief run down on what I found out. There are two types of defamation;Oral defamation -- called slander -- for example comments or stories.Published defamation -- called libel -- for example a newspaper article or television broadcast. Pictures as well as words can be libellous.Anything that injures a person's reputation can be defamatory. If a comment brings a person into contempt, disrepute or ridicule, it is likely to be defamatory. When threatened with a defamation suit, most people focus on whether or not something is defamatory. But there is another, more useful way to look at it. The important question is whether you have a right to say it. If you do, you have a legal defence. If someone sues you because you made a defamatory statement, you can defend your speech or writing on various grounds. There are three main types of defence:* what you said was true;* you had a duty to provide information;* you were expressing an opinion. For example:* You can defend yourself on the grounds that what you said is true.* If you have a duty to make a statement, you may be protected under the defence of "qualified privilege." For example, if you are a teacher and make a comment about a student to the student's parents -- for example, that the student has been naughty -- a defamation action can only succeed if they can prove you were malicious. You are not protected if you comment about the student in the media.* If you are expressing an opinion, for example on a film or restaurant, then you may be protected by the defence of "comment" or "fair comment," if the facts in your statement were reasonably accurate.* There is an extra defence if you are a parliamentarian and speak under parliamentary privilege, in which case your speech is protected by "absolute privilege," which is a complete defence in law. The same defence applies to anything you say in court. The same basic defences apply throughout Australia, although the things you have to prove to apply them may differ. For example, in some Australian states, truth alone is an adequate defence. In other states, a statement has to be true and in the public interest -- if what you said was true but not considered by the court to be in the public interest, you can be successfully sued for defamation.

Very enlightening Pete, but after all >

of that, you forgot to mention that Defamation is one of the hardest cases to prove under our Judicial System, and because of this, we have seen instances where cars laden with sign-written criticism, have been parked outside of business premises for months with complete immunity, and more recently, that maniacal ranting on the Internet, about Pedders Managements company practices and personal lives, again with immunity. We would do well to consider the number of Defamation cases, where the Plaintiff is exposed to the harshest of cross-examination during the case, and loses that case through finding it impossible to conceal matters they would rather have had remain unknown.
