    Hi everyone,

I do want to post a build thread one of these days but I get overwhelmed with all the mods and pictures I would have to remember, list, upload, and describe... lol

Here is a little side project from when I got tired of having an old dingy plenum on my fresh built engine (although the dirt did help it look like a sleeper)

This is what we start with:

One day while the plenum was off I decided to give her a real scrub: After doing half the plenum I just wasnt pleased with the pitting and dirt and casting marks...

So in true perfectionist OCD form, the sand paper comes out:

I didnt want the full polish (a little to bling bling for me) so I went for a brushed aluminum look. With a test of concept done, the rest of the plenum now gets attacked:

And after about 20 hours of sanding:

I was surprised that I had to stop at 80 grit to get that brushed look. I did use a 800 wet sand just very lightly on the finished product to make it smooth, but not so much to take the brush marks out.

Those with a keen eye will notice I've made some deletes to the plenum itself, namely cutting off tabs, grinding them down, filing the remains, and sanding the raw aluminum to make it look as if nothing was ever there.

But basically, the moral of the story here is hand tools and patience can take you far in your goals. Hope you enjoyed this thread

That looks very good mate, well done!!
It’s amazing what a bit of elbow grease can achieve.
I’m not a bit fan of the full bling Polished plenum either, that’s a good compromise
