    Hey Cookie

the smart controller is due to be released late march early april... i think mattz can confirm this...

I on the other hand am in the middle of making my own smart controller... might consider building more at a group buy price...

it consits of a 20x4 LCD screen (white text on blue backlight). It will monitor your water temps (tapped into the ECU) and also control the pump for different flow rates at different temps. This will also allow for quick warmup times, cool down when engine is off and warnings for high temps (display and alert beep).

And for those with the thermo fans, i'm also intergrating this to kick in at certain temps and turn off when back at operating temperatures.

    example of the LCD screen:

actually... i'm thinking of using the smaller LCD

a 16x2 LCD screen will allow an easier mounting solution. price to be confirmed once my 'prototype' is released, but it'll probably be around the $100 mark... pretty good for a flashy twd with control features!

forgive me if i am wrong,

but if davies craig is taking a fair while to develop the software to run the pump, are you sure you will be able to design a program to have the EWP running as effectively as them? supposedly their controller will be able to maintain a set temperature, will yours be able to do this or will it just be a function that turns it on when it reaches a certain temp (say 95 degrees) and then turns off at like 80 degrees? sorry if i seem a bit rude, i am just a very sceptical person. i would love (and i am sure others would too) more info (alot more info) on the design of your EWP controller and how it will work compared with the davies craig product.

    cheers mate

    that's fine cookie...

i'm only 50% through the coding at the moment....

i managed to get some details from one of the davies craig engineers... basically the pump will pump x litres at x voltage... i have a graph so i can control how many litres the ewp will pump just by sending a particular voltage to the pump.

so at operating temp, it'll pump x litres (say around 80l/pm)... as the temp rises, more power will be sent to the pump causing it to pump more... it will be programmed to pump a certain amount depending on the temperature. if the pump reaches max capacity and temperature is high or rising, the thermo fan will kick in also.

i'll post up some coding if anyone is interested... when it is complete that is.
