    Nar, set of JUN intake gears would be around $400, it wouldn't cost much more than that for Sav to get his gears rebuilt. BDE do a nice job on the series 2 and move the adjustment gear to the front, so you get adjustable AND VTC intakes with lifetime warranty.... doesn't get much better!

    Thanks Rob, I will look into a set of these if the problem persists.

    Fingers crossed Eric should have sent the other one to replace the faulty one today.

    Been a busy last two days - mix of good & bad news - more bad than good though.
    Finally got around to getting the new cats installed & also visited Toshi as he wanted to have a look at the car's ECU data before we go for the full dyno & road tune next week.
    He hooked up his laptop & we hit the streets.
    After doing a few sprints & medium intensity driving, he told me that the car was detonating heaps & that the tune that was on there was what he considered dangerous.
    He told me to do a second gear run & hit 6-6,500rpm whilst he was checking everything on his laptop - once I hit about 5,500+, it sounded like marbles rattling in a can - I told him that I didn't want to hurt my engine, so we headed back after that.
    I'm tossing up between getting Mark @ MRC dyno & Toshi, to do the tune - the dyno seems safer & Mark said he will be doing the cold start tune, considering the new 750cc injectors, dual maf twin intakes, bigger turbo's etc, whereas Toshi's will be a performance road tune which he said he will complete within only a day, whereas Mark said he will take 2-3 days to do it all properly.

    What are your thoughts on this guys?

    What is your boost set at?

    Fuk that drift z is as ugly as a bucket full of smashed crabs

    I remember Eric telling me 12-13psi for low & high was 16psi

    the tests were done on the low boost setting

    Guess your cats were pretty stuffed and freeing them up increased flow enough to cause pinging.

    Normally nistune (NISTUNE is a type of remap ) do not need cold start tune.Because if numbers were to change Kconst and injection latency , all fuel map will also change automatically including cold start map. (after market ecu need adjust cold start tune)

    I think I will take all day for road tune and another day we go to dyno so tune will take 1.5 days.

    the thing that bothers me mainly with road tuning ahd i dont do alot anymore is the legal side of things, you need to be able to do full power runs in 4th where its highest load, how many times can you risk you licence doing that?

    Well that's the other reason I'm leaning towards MRC Dyno - even on a freeway, you're gonna be breaking the legal speed limit within no time.
    I don't want to get pulled over for breaking the the speed limit & then most likely be defected for exhaust, EBC, lowered suspension etc, together with the fine & loss of points/ licence.
    They would have a bloody field day!

    I'm surprised nobody mentioned this already...

    Dyno allows you to accurately control load points in a safe environment, I can't see the benefit of doing it any other way!
