Had a little stack in my Z tonight :'( I was leaving the indoor cricket centre, driving to the pub up the road. I went around a blind corner, and there were 2 P plater's driving commodores sitting in the middle of the road, side by side doing skids. I had to swerve to miss them, ended up running up the gutter and clipping a tree They took off, so I didn't get any number plates or anything Went to go move the car off the road, the drivers side wheel wouldn't turn. I think i've snapped the tension arm. Front bar is mangled, drivers guard is mangled. Going to have to suss out what else happened tomorrow Poor zed....
F#$% !!!!! Dumb arse P platers don't even know where to do skids. Those cheap dash videos keep sounding like a good idea, I got ran off the road a few months back, ended up with a scrape half way down the drivers side, could of been a LOT worse. Now I am fighting his insurance company, with a video it would be done already. GB anyone ?
Ah damn! I'm not too sure if I'm going to claim through insurance or not. My excess is through the roof (being a 20 year old male in a 300kw TT). Will sus out the extent of the damage tomorrow, and go from there.
man that's shit! I know where you can grab a fender and same replacement bumper quick smart. message me.
Sorry to here your news mate, this is the one thing you can never plan for and never expect. I hope you are ok and not injured and I hope you can get your Zed back on the road soon.:zlove:
Nah both me and my passenger were fine. Luckily it was a tiny tree, and not the telegraph pole to the left of it. The only things that hurt are my back, my wallet and my ego
Aw man, that sucks, luckily it doesn't look major. A similar event happened to a friend of mine, he was driving his soarer like normal and a bunch of Commodores he was unable to identify caused him to swerve out and hit something. In Vic, part of our rego few covers TAC insurance, he opened a claim and got a pay out which took care of the repairs and it didn't harm his private insurance premiums.
when it comes to insurance be aware that even if you dont claim you may need to delcare the accident and it may affect either your premiums or excess, my insurance company did this to me (bumped up my excess from $250 - $1000 even though I never claimed) fortunately for me I knew the local branch manager - had installed the plumbing in his new house a few months earlier - and he was able to get the excess issue sorted but I had a probation period of a year without incident before they would revert it. in my case my car had been broken into was it was a case of theft and recovery.
Damn that sucks balls. Glad you guys were OK. Stumagoo I'd be talking to the insurance ombudsman about that. If it wasn't your fault and you didn't claim I can't see how your insurance company can penalise you. Might be a good story for A Current Affair lol!
Your friend is telling fibs. The TAC charge pays for people injured in road accidents, not vehicle damage. If he made a TAC claim for personal injury and used that money to fix his car, he's committed insurance fraud.
Ok, so I've inspected the damage, and its not looking good. Probably going to get it inspected by an assessor, but I'm scared they'll write it off as an economical write off. Every suspension component in the front drivers side is either bent, or broken. List of things needed: -Front bar + paint -front guard + paint -side skirts repaired + paint -corner light -steering rack (snapped) -tension arm (cracked) -coilover (bent) -lower control arm (cracked) -crossmember (bent where the control arm bolts on) -2 wheels Thats what I've been able to see... there will probably be more upon further inspection. The passenger door now rubs on the side skirt, so I'm a little concerned that there might be some chassis damage Now for the pics:
Oh man this sucks!! Glad you're ok, nothing worse then something happening that wasn't even your fault I'm up for this..
That's a hard hit! The passenger door now rubs on the side skirt, so I'm a little concerned that there might be some chassis damage Depending on how much it's insured for, it'll probably be a write off.
You should have hit the commodore instead! He can't prove it wasnt his fault though. It would have been better to run into the commodore than veer off the road into a tree (the upside is you would have had his licence plate imprinted or attached to your front bar at the least and if you cannot move yours than chances are he could not move his) Anyway - at least your ok - thats what counts! Z's can be rebuilt and bought again - but you cannot! Things like this seem trivial when a life is lost in an accident. Take care
Shame to see a nice zed get into trouble like that...it could have been worse, so try to think positive. Zeds can be replaced, people cant. I have a pair of stock tension rods with whiteline? bushes in them...you can have it if you need, just pay for postage. I dont have any of the other bits you need, so I'm unable to help with that, sorry. If you have trouble finding the parts you need locally, there are quite a few places in ViC that i know that should have them, so if you get stuck, just pm me & ill find them for you. All the best. Good luck. Abraham
