Cant speak for Vg30, but with the ones i've seen of yellow and red jackets on rb25 they are worse than standard.
One instance on rb25 neo throwing a constant coilpack error code from brand new, owner ended up getting a single used oem coil and got refund on the red jackets.

Yeah, yellowjackets have a pretty poor reputation with the RB guys. Don't think many people have bothered trying them in a Z. I think tektrader has a bucket of second hand OEM coilpacks for sale although that may have been someone else. Otherwise go new OEM or splitfire.

None at this stage Tekky but thanks for the offer. Mine are still working ok although I managed to break the carbon tip off on one. I spoke to Lloyd (chili) & he said he had a couple I could get of him if need be.
I was simply putting it out there to see if there was a better/stronger current output coil pack as an alternative to stock.

I used them fine in the red zed. Chili has them now

Do coilpacks simply either work or not work or do they deteriorate over time?
If replacing with new on 1990 NA, would splitfires deliver a better spark than oem coilpacks?

The insulation on the coilpacks can get damaged and degrades leaking spark onto nearby things or skipping across the coils reducing the strength of spark at the plug. You can also get connection issues if the spring/electrode in the end that contacts the plug is damaged.

Split fires aren't going to deliver significantly more spark and you don't really need more spark in an NA anyway unless you're going for an unboosted power record and really pushing it. Just buy whichever you can buy new, genuine units for the cheapest (Except Yellow Jackets)

I used yellow jackets in the red zed. Minimal kms but were effective.

Helps when the coils have internal springs before they are glued together and sent off.
(Yes the stems are siliconed to the coilpack cause they are such a bad fit"

    Even Meatloaf wouldn't accept these.

I haven't had to buy any yet so no hookups on good deals, Rob will probably do you a fair price. Check out www.conceptzperformance.com and www.z1motorsports.com for comparison, possibly up to or around AU$70 for shipping? not sure. You can check http://www.courtesyparts.com too but I think you need to use a forward shipper from them.
