    Hi gang,

Soon I'll have my tired old engine out replacing it with something fresher and higher compression, while its out I'd also like to replace my turbo cores with a new set of something ball-bearing and higher flowing but I'm having trouble figuring out what CHRAs are possible/sensible to install in standard manual housings. Do any cores such as the JWT 500 or GT2554R fit or do I really need to get something with larger housings to open up higher flow?

If anyone can recommend some local businesses that can supply cores and are good to deal with that would be awesome.

    Thanks guys.

cheaper to just get a set of gt2560r's (gt28r)

Aussie high flow prices are a rip off

If you must For a high flow upgrade its cheaper to just buy the Z1 GT525 high flows .

As BB says just buy some 2860Rs, if you negotiate you can get a pair for $2100, but still have to do mods to intake and dumppipes.

Stock housings will only fit stock chra's. You would need to have the have the housing's machined for anything else. $$$$

Thanks for the wisdom guys, so for a decent flow upgrade I need to get 5-bolt dumps? Are JWT 530 BB with the 2554R good or are the 2560Rs more efficient? where would you buy them to suit a Z?

My current plan for the build/tune is to get up to about 250rwkw and have response as early as possible so stockers are only just going to be an issue with restriction from what I've seen

    JWT 530 is the GT2554R

    Z1 have them as GT535R $2295

And is the fastest spooling upgrade next to stock turbos .250rwkw is easily achieved .

new GT turbos use 5 bolt dumps

    stockers use 4 bolt dumps

Damn, now I'm back to the age old question of blow out the budget now or risk having to pull it apart again later if I'm not satisfied.

Hypergear highflows are $1600 and australian made :)

Was going to mention these. Probably the cheapest option for a straight bolt in upgrade. Don't know if there was anybody who dyno tested a set on a vg30 though..
I blew my budget going to 5 bolt turbos, once I bought 3' dumps and exhaust to suit.
But its got some stick now.

    Think again!
My car pulls 271.9Kw using high-flowed STOCK Turbo's and good internals(ACL pistons, forged rods, ARP studs etc.), so 250Kw is no big issue.
Save your money for other things.:zlove:

tassuperkart Its a lie I tell you!

One of the OP's original questions was regarding BB cores.
In small frame (stock T2) turbos, BB cores are extremely rare. There is a particular T25 turbo off something JDM which came with a BB cored turbo but i only know of one of those in captivity.
BB cores become pretty popular in the smaller mid frame turbos such as Gt28 (a-la Discos et al) so thats your thing.
BB cores are desireable but certainly nowhere close to must have!!!

Thanks for that E(I didn't notice his reference to BB first time round)however, for such a moderate power target, I seriously doubt the need for the expenditure for BB cores.
Mine have been running daily for about 8 years, without any issues whatsoever.:zlove::br:

You're right I don't need anything flash to make 250kw but for my driving habits I'm chasing something as responsive as possible for hill climb and motorkhana events with some days at wakefield etc. thrown in. But looking at the dollar figure I'm agreeing with you that I should probably save my money, spend it on tyres.

I doubt that you would get any noticeable improvement in times(particularly on Hill Climbs)as they are generally so short a duration/distance that Driving Technique(and getting the available power to the ground)has a far more productive effect than outright power or throttle response(in most instances).:br::zlove:
