Just wondering how others (who have done it in the past) have managed to change their clutch booster. Is it a "dash-out" job or is it possible with the dash on?! Tried it this pm with the steering wheel & gauge cluster off but wasn't successful...

Did you unbolt the clutch master in the engine bay first? the mounting bolts for the peddle assembly are the studs through the firewall to the clutch master.

I was leaving those two bolts last but yes, I'm aware of them that need to be undone as well. Just wasn't successful undoing that big chunk of metal under the dash which holds the booster in place. Unsure how...

Well I installed a boosted when I put a manual in the zed. Did it all with the dash in. But gauge cluster and pods out. So you can get some light and access to the bolts. But it's doable. Just will have to remove the master cylinder then you can gain all the access you need.

That's exactly what I did. Dash in but cluster and pods out. I can access the area under the dash by fiddling around the chunks of wires. I was able to take the four bolts off from the metal that secures the booster on to the firewall. My main problem is: that same metal (where the clutch pedal also happens to be connected) doesn't want to move! Seems like its braced on the chassis. And there seems to be very little room to move it about in case I'd be able to disconnect it from the top...

How did you do it, mate?!

If I'm following you correctly there is a hidden bolt that secures the top of the pedal assembly to the dash bracing. It's way up under the dash and you need to be on your head in the foot well to see it. Just follow the pedal assembly framework up underneath and you'll see it. Once its removed the pedal assembly will move freely.

Makes sense! Thanks heaps for the heads up. Will try that out again next week... :)

Give me a call Arvin I did mine last week....definitely a few tips to make it easy. The most important thing for me was realising that the big metal holding the pedal was stuck behind the loom which would not let to go anywhere.

Yeah this job really sucks. I spent half the day upside down in a position I've only ever seen a contortionist achieve, while constantly dropping sockets on my head. My back and neck will never be the same :bash:

2+2? it made it easier for me to get upside down under the dash with the driver seat removed.

Yes that would have been well worth doing in retrospect.
