Heya, hope you are all well. This morning I noticed that when I pressed my locking button on my immobilizer fob the doors no longer locked on their own, indicators still flashed as normal and my immobilizer light turned on in my dash, but I had to use the key to properly lock the car, first time ever.

I'm not sure if its within the locks, or the immobilizer unit its self (from 2004 I believe). Is there a way to diagnose this? If it's of any value, I hard wired a dash cam two days ago but that's only running off the hazards and cig lighter fuse. Don't think it's related but worth a mention due to its close proximity timing wise.

    Who knows with aftermarket.

I know with my cars. they have powered passenger door lock that activates when physically locking drivers door. so my aftermarket remote locking is with drivers side only
Mine can fail a couple of ways. If I hear it work but not unlock: The clamp that attaches to the drivers door from aftermarket lock solenoid to latch mechanism comes loose and falls off.
Or if I hear nothing, the powered bullet connections to the aftermarket solenoid come loose over time due to vibration of door shutting over the years. (I have 3 active cars, so it happens frequently enough)

Regarding dash cam. it may cause an issue, since it shares the hazard circuit. as electronics can be weird at times. Also if wiring in the dash cam and it's location is near the immobilizer, you may have bumped wires loose enough to disconnect your remote central locking aspect.

Interesting, adding to the mystery it worked again when coming back from class. Worked later in the evening when I went to the gym and worked in the morning, although it didn't work when arriving at my schools carpark, same as yesterday... Only seems to not work there, more time is needed to see.
    Why are electrics like this:eek:

Does it work more reliably when closer to the car?
Have you tried replacing the battery in your remote key fob?
Often a battery will put out more power when warm (such as when the fob has been in your pocket)
If you find replacing the battery in the fob works, make sure u buy a fresh one and reputable brand, but they are all made in China these days. Designed for short service life.

Update, electric locking fully doesn't work anymore. I know it's not the battery as the indicators flash when I press the key button even from a distance, and the immobilizer led turns on. Although I shall do some testing to see if immobilizer is even still working, or just looking like it works.
