    The BIG "E", Premature E.....xcitation.
Once again I find myself the victim of Premature Excitation(a condition brought on by cessation of an annoying and untraceable Z32 malady).:bash:
The "No Start" problem which I reported several days ago(and which mysteriously ceased as suddenly as it occurred), has once again raised it's ugly head. After driving the car numerous times over the past several days, I went out this morning to discover a re-occurrence of the identical symptoms that I reported in my previous thread.

Can anyone advise me on the best method of setting fire to a Z32?:bash::bash:

Lloyd, the best way to burn a zed....

is drive it up to Andymacs place and leave it overnight

oh crap in order to drive it you have to be able to start it

Looks like you're really screwed this time :banned:

Oh well, you'll just have to battle on like the rest of us

    My moneys

on the starter motor solenoid, because over time heat drys the lube from the small barrel it slides in, when that happens you get the problems you have now. Sometimes it starts and then mysteriously, zip. Ive had soleniods apart and relubed them, and that worked.

    When its happening mate!

    1. Put the car on stands crawl underneath and put a test light on the solenoid wire and turn the key. If you have power its the soleniod or the bushes in the starter that may need cleaning. Sometimes the grime inside these things
(starter motor) can clog the starter bushes and stop them from coming out onto your starter internal coil (therefore reducing the power at the soleniod). Or it may need new bushes or the soleniod is stuffed - either way the problems in the starter).

    2. If there is no power down there when the key is turned then the problem is in the strater circuit at the relay, starter switch or alarm. Test the wires at the starter swicth to eliminate these problems seperately,

Lloyd, is it the Microtech playing up? On the odd occasion, my ecu dash display goes blank
and when this happens it won't start. Although, having said that, the starter motor still cranks the engine.

Don't think it's related to the MicroTech Wayne, and no, the engine doesn't crank at all, not even a click.
I'm rapidly losing interest in this car(I now have a very expensive ornament in my garage, and like most ornaments, it's gathering dust.:mad::mad:).:bash::bash:

Winter time usually finds a weakness, the cold kills older batteries, moisture in places that have been dry for 6 months, dust from the summer being made into mud ( marvelous in electrial things like solenoids !! )

    Won't start UPDATE II

Maybe this car should be in "Ripley's Believe It Or Not".

Four days of checking everything without any success, numerous attempts to start it fail. So today I finally get some help to try and clutch start it (in reverse, in my driveway). Assemble the Pushing Team(flat driveway:mad:), get in the driving seat, put key in ignition, push in clutch pedal, select Reverse gear, turn key to prime fuel pump, and whammo! Engine fires up without a wimper. WTF!!!
Turn it off, try several re-starts, works perfectly(until next time it decides not to).
    Where are my matches?:eek::bash::bash::bash::zlove:

I had a similar thing happen once...

After I had the gearbox out (manual), mechanic didn't re-attahed the starter motor connector properly, which is up there near the gearbox. Could be a dicky connection?

Someone should tell him that these things happen when you age.:p
I'll provide the matches, but only if I get to retrieve various parts beforehand.

After 6-mths of 'lottery' starting, just like yours Lloyd, my sweet little silver piece of 'sh..t' degenerated into the total non-start, as you no doubt remember, and sat in front of my garage, immovable, for 3-mths!! After replacing virtually every electrical component, with occasional starts on 5 cylinders, Wokburner finally seems to cured the sweet little thing!! Just to keep the 'Zed hex' intact tho' the gearbox died on my 2nd drive!!! They're such entertaining creatures.... bit like the 'chocolate box' - you never know what's gunna go wrong next....!!:D
Are you sure you're not just trying to take away all the sympathy that should be directed to me...????:bash:
