    Hello Zed Cars,

I have junkyard dealer telling me that the California edition is somehow special. As far as I can tell it's digital dash, my TX5 Ghia one fucked up and leather seats. He is also looking for huge money for an registered car. What are your thoughts?

    Cheers Roland

Depends on the price really, yes the later Californian facelift is probably more desirable but only to the right person and in the right condition.

Just because it's registered doesn't mean anything.

How much extra are we talking? I can't see the best Z31 in the world being much more than $25k. And you'd want to love it for that much!

Junkyard dealers NEVER pay much for anything. There has to be a reason why it is in a junkyard! just because they have got roadworthy and registered it does not mean its perfect The Z31 suffered from rust especially around the hatch and t tops. Is it turbo? what year is it. I had a 50th Anniversary Z31, digital dash and that was 1984. If you are serious get it inspected prior to making any bid on it.

The last generation Z31s are gorgeous.
I'm amazed that I hardly ever see any Z31s around, they are beautiful cars.
They were called bloated and floaty by the reviewers back in the day but nothing a set of King springs can't fix IMO.

I like the last generation as there had been three rounds of continuous improvement in play. But $4,000 from a junkyard - PLEASE!!!

$4k isn't unreasonable, any pics of the overall condition?

No. I think I will go and see if I can look at it next weekend on the way to or from Elton John Concert.

Its all about condition. If its got a good body, I mean no corrosion or filler then it will be worth 4k. Take a magnet with you. Lets hope you remember the weekend for buying a really great car not just EJ concert

...if the concert is anything like Pokolbin last weekend it'll be pretty hard to top!
