Buzz - whine from rear end

Since having my tailshaft replaced I've got a buzz/whine noise that co-incides with my foot touching the loud pedal. It seems to go away after 20-30 mins of driving. It is the same noise as the fuel system priming when you turn the key to acc but the sound just comtinues so I'm assuming that it is my fuel pump. Search tells me that it is unlikely to be the fuel pump itself but the FPCU.

Is there something that might have been bumped while removing the tailshaft to cause this, or is it just co-incidental timing that the FPCU has started to go south?

did you replace with a one peice. could be your centre bearing if you didnt. also some drive shafts need 2 be put in a certain way if yours is making a noise. unbolt it then move the shaft round 1 place bolt up and try that...

as for fuel pump if it is whining. replace it asap.. whining is a sure bet that its on the way out... almost every TT owner i know has replaced there pump remember its 18years old

    Possible coincidence

    FPCU may be the culprit.

Read up in Tech Section re problem and be prepared for a bypass if necessary... it's not difficult. I had similar prob a few years ago and re-built the FPCU - now carry one as a spare + bypass wiring.... just in case. ;)

The bypass may be left connected indefinately with no apparent adverse effect.

Yeah I've seen the article thanks. I think I'll swap it out just to be safe rather than just have the cloud of possible failure hanging over my head. It just bugs me when things aren't 100% :)

    100% ???

Col...... its a zed..... there's always something to stress over ..... there's always something to stress your wallet..:)

Loud buzzing from the rear, I'd go with fuel pump as well. Try swap out the FPCU and see if it helps.

    Cheers
