This is not a sales pitch.....I just need to know if the non-ABS brake master cylinders can be used on ABS equipped cars? I've been told that you need only block off the extra port.

Off a skyline or something? (As pictured). Yeah, brake bias is probably different but they'll work if you can get a plug.

The non-ABS Z32 bmcs are pretty different though, four lines and they're in different positions. The non-ABS Z32 also uses a BM44 which will be super squishy on an ABS Z.

    Anti 14.7 x 14.7 = 44.1

How sure are you that it'll be different on the bias? Not sure he'd want it if it is.

I'm not sure, I said probably :p Nissan used a bunch of different biases, most are less than the standard Z's BM57, you've got to go through the service manuals to find them. If Marcus is talking to a supplier he should be able to get info on these units from them.

These BMC's are BM57. Which port on the BMC needs to be blocked off for the ABS equipped cars?

If you Google IMAGES "Nissan BM57", you'll find various images of the 300ZX cylinders.
A number of images show the centre port is plugged.

Ok I think I've found it. It the center port that needs to be blocked. Non ABS models use all 3 ports, ABS models use the outer 2, and leaves the middle port plugged. On the ABS, the single front line output enters the ABS actuator, and becomes 2 lines when exiting the actuator. The rear line exits the BMC and enters the actuator, then exits the actuator as a single line before splitting to each rear wheel.

For a Z the more rearward port that's on an angle gets blocked off. Within the BM57 family there are different proportioning valves used, couldn't tell you how much you'll feel the difference but Nissan specified different biases for different cars.

Non-ABS Zs (or at least the shell I have, '89 JDM 2+0 NA) use four lines, skyline non-ABS masters will not bolt straight up.

The ABS and NON-abs cylinders have very different piston sizes. Im not too sure Id be swapping them out.

Doesn't everyone want to swap to large piston size these days anyway?

Larger would be ok -smaller not so much. What's the ID of the bore? From memory it should be 17/16" for bm57

    Correct, they are 17/16", BM57.

  13. Anti

    Anti 14.7 x 14.7 = 44.1

I too would be surprised to hear that a simple port plug on a non-abs cylinder will yeild the same results as an abs cylinder

But I would be very very happy if that was true

Im certain the ABS cylinder uses 26/26mm configuration
The other is something like 21/23 IIRC
Could be the other way around. I just cant remember without searching it again.

That is a huge difference when considering piston area.

Removed abs from mine, every thing else stayed the same, brakes work fine.

Well, my advice is to NEVER advertise that such equipment has been removed from a car and dont EVER have any kind of accident.
Going to jail may be a nice alternative!!!!!!
That old bloke above may just confirm this.
