G'day Red Turtle, i had the same thing happen last week and on of the guys advised me, best trick is too get a nut and bolt and use that instead of the grommet. Basically you have to fiddle around with the peddle and fit the nut and bolt into the same position as the grommet, use a bit of heatable glue ( glue gun type ) on top of the Nut so the plunger has something to push onto without damaging it as most nuts are a bit counter sunk.

I carved one up from a scrap of old conveyor belt rubber.
The hole is approx 10mm, the height of the grommet doesn't matter as the switch is adjustable.
I can make one up for you if you wish?

    Or....

Get a set of mutigrips and bend the bracket that the brake light switch is on forwads a few mm so that the switch hits above the hole that the grommet used to be in, and re adjust the switch depth.

I had to do this when my gromet fell apart up in townsville over xmas.
It was a quick roadside fix but it works.

Thanks for the offer hun, HeavyTrevy has done some super glue magic somewhere and seems to be working for now, see how it goes, and the lights dont come on by themselves anymore lol :p

This same thing happened to my Z while I was on holiday, drained the battery and killed it. Then to add insult to injury, when I replaced the battery, it leaked, and spilled acid all over my favourite shirt and shorts which now have massive holes in them. ASSES!!!

Look on the bright side, least you didn't get battery acid on your zed...

    Looking at you, Rod.
