Thought I'd share with everybody what I'm doing.
It's a built 350 chev with a pair of T3/T4 turbos hanging off it, custom setup with all the hard work done. (some members may recognise this build from a2zed)

Aim is a streetable drift/drag setup to hopefully run 11's and shred plenty of rubber.

Currently in the process of ironing out a few bugs with the swap, as expected when you put in a completely different motor than original!
But so far I have removed my old motor, deleted nearly everything in the engine bay minus the wiring, fitted hicas lockout bar and prepped the chevy for fitment.

    Things left to do are:
-clutch (am looking in to a nismo twin plate)
    -still need a decent dizzy
-fit the steering column... stock one doesn't reach the modified crossmember unfortunately! possibly going to get a custom one made up to reach (needs approx 25mm more length)
-mods to fit radiator... test fitted the other day and what do you know it doesn't bolt up to anything! haha, seems to be similarly sized to NA radiator, where the bottom bolts up to isn't wide enough for stock TT location.
-wiring! if anybody knows of a decent auto sparky in the newcastle area please let me know.
-fuel lines for e85, looking in to keeping hicas lines and using those, however I've come across information that stock lines are fine for e85. still not sure on this
-currently getting one turbo dump pipe repaired (had a shitty weld on it) and recoated
-fuel pump, hopefully getting this fitted tomorrow
-also need thermo fans if anyone can point me to a good brand, no i can't go a clutch fan due to space issues.

Plan is to get this running and decently tuned by mid March for power cruise in Sydney. Most likely won't be engineered/registered by then but I do plan on having it legally on the road eventually.
Another hurdle with getting the car on the road is getting an exemption to drive this on my p's.. Yes it is totally possible as I owned the car interstate on an interstate license (which had no vehicle restrictions) and there are provisions for this on the exemption form but it's not long until I can progress to a full license anyway so I may just wait until then.

Apologies for the lack of photos! I will get some new ones soon, I had a heap on my old phone but I no longer have that phone anymore sadly.

    put up some pics man.

stock fuel lines are fine for E85 just like the HICAS ones are in the same sense that they're both steel (not so fine maybe?), it's just a question of diameter. you'd have to be pushing massive power to out flow the stock ones.

for the column extension, if you can't find a longer one from another model it might be worth getting a small slip on extension made up rather than cutting and welding the old one.

what is the radiator from? if you don't need the piping space, an NA radiator would do you well. they have much more surface area than the TT units.

Derale is an American brand that produce thermo fans, I'm buying from them, IIRC they have the best flow figures on the market. You should be able to jam two 14" fans between the frame rails, that's what you want.

If the thermos that I assume were on it, they're high zirgo units from the states- were high flowing units.

I'd be a little reluctant to push that stock bottom end too far

The only 2 photos I have. some may recognise the zed?
With the radiator not fitting, the studs that locate into the bottom rubber dont line up. Are TT and NA radiators different when it comes to mounting?

    Anyway enjoy the photos

Yeah TT and NA rads have different upper and lower mounts. The TT rad mounts towards the outside edge of the radiator so it's a wider footprint from a narrower radiator. Go figure.

You can buy adaptors (that don't fit) for putting TT radiator on NA chassis, but I've not seen it done the other way around. Somewhere like PWR could make one if you gave them specs.

Shoot me a message when you've sized up the fans -I carry Derale/Davies Craig/Proform and SPAL. Can sort you out.

    ...you carry Derale, Rob?

If it comes to the pouint of getting a custom radiator made to fit the mounts on the car, it's worth considering that the spot welds for said mount are easily drilled out. The mounts could be welded on in other positions, simple task for anyone with a mig.

It's not a z32 radiator. Measurements were taken and an alloy unit from 999automotive was sourced. Front radiator crossmember was simply cut out to accommodate the big arsed sbc water pump. You'll also want to put an oil pressure switch and relay, capable of 30A on the ps pump, so it doesn't kick in as soon as you turn the ignition on

Blow through csu E85 carb would go mint on this setup. Probably tear that tranny in two though hahaha.

FYI:pretty sure Karl (90TTZ) changed his radiator setup from TT to an aftermarket NA rad when he did the water/meth setup.

Very wise! Pretty hilarious people swap their NA rads for TT units thinking "it's from a TT, it must be better!"

    update

Managed to get the motor in this weekend, only if a vg was as easy to fit as thing, just straight down onto the mounts.
    looks tough as
    [IMG]
everything is going slowly but no major problems (touch wood) just have to get the flywheel machined to fit a nismo duel plate clutch then start getting trans mounted up

    *UPDATE*

Progress was slow for a while.. But well on the way to being finished soon now!

Car is currently getting some final fab work done to get everything sorted, thats:
    -fuel pump bracket
    -radiator
    -p/s pump
    -steering column extension
    -engine mount reinforcement

I had an engineer inspect the car yesterday while at the fab shop and he is generally happy with how it is - only asking for some extra reinforcement on engine mounts. He was pleased with the quality of work done on the steering column extension as well.

    Here are some pics.. :)

I still have my intercoolers off my VG if i decide i want them at a later stage.
For now, if its not absolutely necessary its not in the budget lol.

  18. what has happened with this build?

Its slowly getting there, justen had a few issues over the last few months after trying to get it tuned (warped/cracked manifolds, injectors). Ill get onto him to update the thread

  20. Cheers man. Not good with the issues, but hopefully he can get it sorted. Looks like an unreal build.
