    Wait for it to clear.

BAnk cheques ar no longer as good as cash.Scammers will get a bank cheque, go back to the bank and claim they have lost the cheque and get it cancelled, then go out and pass it on to you.Gets a bit deeper than that, but that's the general principal.al

Bank cheques are not the cast iron >>>

guarantee they were considered to be at one time - thanks to scams as indicated by XPLO5V and also theft of blank bank cheques. When you deposit it, ask for a special clearance; will probably cost a bit extra, but the bank is then supposed to contact you and tell you the cheque has cleared.Bank cheques are still a much better deal than personal cheques, especially when dealing with a stranger.

Get them to do a direct deposit>>>

from their a/c to your a/c or EFT (Electronic Funds Transfer)and check your balance next day before releasing anything of value. We do a lot of transactions at work this way with non account customers, quickest and safest way to guarantee payment.Cya

Go to the bank with them!

By seeing the cheque made up at the bank, I was happy to sell some big ticket items, otherwise they can be very dodgyCheers
