So do you mean that the person who sold me

the chip wasn't telling the truth.
One more thing, if you're mechanic you're not sharing your knowledge with other members, like Wykked, who's not a mechanic but it's always helpful if someone has problems.

So how was it tested ? >>

Surely you were in the car for this ECU upgrade testing ?Correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't an ECU chip upgrade only the engine management system and not the automatic transmission ECU? The A/T ECU still gets the sames signals as it would have before the ECU upgrade since it is piggybacked off the Engine Management ECU and doesn't receive control signals from the EM ECU.With regards to the oil cooler upgrade needed along with the ECU upgrade - JWT doesn't include an oil cooler or even mention upgrading it in their comprehensive ECU upgrade package so where/who told you about needing an oil cooler upgrade.Any half decent home mechanic would not blame an ECU upgrade causing their gearbox to fail. What was the diagnosis on the failed gearbox anyway ?

Can't you read? How many inches of doc.

do I have to send you so you can understand what I wrote.
And I wasn't in the car when my transmission was blown and never had any problems with it before.

    i have a a friend who >

ran 320kw ('89 model V8 commodore) through his stock transmission and fried it in a few weeks. He also didn't have a transmission cooler installed although he asked for one (another case of dodgey mechanics)I think if you run serious amounts of horsepower through a stock transmission, it will eventually fail. Its not the fault of ECU reprogramming/changing, its the amount of power being put through the stock transmission and therefore the extra heat that is produced that will bugger your transmission. So if BigKid was getting some extra horsies from his ECU upgrade, that may have contributed to the transmission failing after the ECU was installed

You didn't say how it was tested ?

Who tested it and why weren't you in the car - surely you would have prefered to be in the car when someone else is driving your pride and joy !Send as many docs as you want to me as I'm always up for a good read :)

    Conspiracy theory, dodgy mechanics.....>>

..MY GOD.....when does the movie come out??? Seriously though, some thought ought to be given to any recomendation, by the recipient, as to whether its mechanics, mechanical work or right down to oils and petrol, as what suits one , may be totally unsuitable for another. As for comments about joining this Association, remember, that is exactly what it is, a loose association, of individuals, which the only prerequisite to post, is to supply details of name etc. which may or may not be true. For example, am I who I say I am, or a 14 year old school kid, with a computor? I have never posted any photos, nor do I know personally any other association members, and all postings I make (like this one) might be figments of my imagination. None of you know, and I really dont care. What I care, is this forum has helped me fix some nagging problems, where I have been on the wrong track altogether, (eg, a fuel filler cap that wouldnt open), and given me a laugh, at other peoples (unintentional) stupidity.    When a thread like this one opens up, it is a real turn off, and I think people should remember the old adage "You pays your money, you takes your chances", if you are not satisfied, take your money elswhere. You can all like it or lump it, but I have just done what all you have just done...expressed an opinion. You may start shooting now............... GT (and no I am not 14)

What made you jump to the conclusion

that it was the ZShop. That's a bit presumptuous!! Btw. I've read both sides of the story hence my strong opinion on the matter.

OK GT but you will be, one day :p:p

This is exactly what I said was likely to happen, when I made a comment to Marek about "not keeping his worms in the can".:| :| I agree with you, snide little "asides" are very damaging to everyone, if you have something to say, SAY IT and then get on with life.Comments like "I'm sorry I joined this Association", are so bloody childish and are better off not being made.
None of us are forced to take any active role on this forum, if I can't take any flack then I can get out, and so can everyone else. It's the great people that I have met (or communicated with), and the free exchange of helpful information that is always offered, that keeps me coming back to the Forum.Your no exception GT!!Cheers mate (who ever you are ;) )

Marek, in your own words, from your own posts as listed below you have a very different
version of events than that described here. Why have you now decided to alter your version of
events related to your previous AT transmission problem after this substantial lapse of time.
Clearly from these past posts you are now at odds with yourself ........ do you care to explain ?

As an interested observer with no

first hand knowledge of, or allegiance to any Vic based Zed workshops, I have a couple of things to say.Firstly, Zed owners in Melbourne should be glad that they have at least one decent, well informed, well stocked (whichever one that may be) Zed workshop available to them. Secondly, I've been around cars, mechanics and workshops for a long long time, and I've never found either the perfect workshop that never makes a mistake, or the perfectly dodgy workshop, that exists on mistakes, lies and incompetency. What one owner experiences with a particular workshop can be very different to what another owner experiences. Recommendations are based on personal experiences, and should be taken as that - a recommendation from personal experience, not a guarantee that everyone's experience will be the same.Thirdly (and lastly), this forum is an invaluable source of information to me, and I gather to many other Zed owners. I would like to be informed of other peoples experiences with various businesses that they have used, whether good or bad - it will help me to make up my mind if and when I ever need to use one of those businesses. I think people should be able to post of their good AND bad experiences on the forum, but it SHOULDN'T be a personal slanging session, or an "A is better than B because" argument. I just want access to the facts, not the endless arguments that the thread turns into. It's also saddening :( to read forum members bitching to each other about what they've posted about Zed mechanics/services - no place for it on the forum, guys, and you'll never convince the other party of your side of the argument. Feel better now, I've had my couple of penny's worth ;)
