Does anyone know where this brake band adjustment is done ? I can find details on the RE4R03A like this: http://www.transgear.co.nz/Transmission-Band-Adjustment.html But am unsure of where this is done. Also does anyone know the effects of a little more or a little less in adjustment ? This image gives some ideas where it is, is it a bolt on the outer casing ? If so where ?
Can't answer your question but just make sure the oil level is exactly level - even half a cup over the level and your band will be thrown out big time Thought is twas so important I had to mention it, even though you may probably know it already - thats why all tests start with - check fluid level I assume the band adjustment must be external - theres no point to it being internal!
I think this is it, a slotted screw that you must tension up and back off then lock with a nut. The question is is it accessible in the car ? Anyone with experience or tips on this ?
Yeah I know it needs to be spot on, the dip stick is so crap to get repeated accurate measurements in my experience, you need to do 3 dips and average almost, plus or minus 1cm is the difference between high and low. But thanks for the post, reminded me to triple check.
I have been around all around that area a lot lately, for a huge range of reasons mate - LOL I can tell you that you can get there with it in car, but it aint easy! It helps if you have kids with long skinny arms!
Yeah it looks like fun doesn't it. 50 in/lb = 4.17 ft/lb's, from that I get that it needs to a little over hand tight, in other words holding the band on the drum relatively firmly then backed off, I might go with 2 turns back off because we all know less is more.
