Recently had Wizards old auto installed.Thanks Fleet (shifting fine when removed) Had to bypass the starter relay in the drivers side guard to get it started. Test drove it and it only has 1st and 2nd as well as reverse. Also have no reverse lights either. I have checked/cleaned all the wiring/connectors that could be related. Also have aligned the inhibitor switch as per service manual. But still no go. Have also had Mark aka ZEDforlife in the passenger seat with datascan hooked up while test driving It showes the gearbox stuck in second even tho the gearbox is operating in either 1st 2nd or reverse. Gearbox diagnostics shows NO errors. Anybody shed some light on this problem? Im not easily stumped but am now Regards Trev
Bummer Is the loom undamaged? Shift linkage correctly aligned? Gerry's Transmissions in Ferry Road (next to Battery World - opposite Zupps) is a guru ... give Gerry a ring on 5532 1140 if you're stumped.
The loom is questionable and the shift linkage is spot on. I removed it and checked when adjusting the inhibitor switch. I gave Boxstop a ring and he recons its a shift soleniod...but i don't think so with all these other problems, ie non starting or reverse lights. I will be taking it to Boxstop on Monday, Im due to leave for a 3500klm road trip in the zed on thurs Regards Trev
Sounds like electrical problem Trev I have 2 spare tranny's in storage ... if you need a loom... give me a yell as I'd need a days notice to access them.
No starting and bypassing starter relay was required as neutral switch wasn't reconnected on the auto (which makes the ECU think it is in gear) nor was backup lamp switch. During Conzult test, the 1-2 solenoid works but 2-3 doesn't. Shows the selector as being in 2nd gear hence the gearbox is just doing what it's told (just as if the gear lever was placed in 2nd). I still think problem is outside the box. Did you check the inhibitor and selector linkages? How bout a wiring check for continuity in the harness between the gearbox plug and the 8 pin plug next to the hicas gear behind drivers headlight? Finally a test donor gearbox might need to be installed to isolate whether inetrnal or outside the box ...
