Good job regardless today guys and some pretty cool pics gathered too.

Unforeseen work commitments kept me away but it's probably a good thing anyway as I know I wouldn't have been anything to impressive to watch either.

Am wanting to do this but , still unsure if my doors are legal for events like this?

Low 15's are what i saw, not sure if it ran quicker.

    Like to thank

Rob for letting me drive his car today, unfortunately gear selection problems prevented the car from showing its true potential,
Good burnout, launched well but wouldn't go from first to second, so just rolled on down,
Car has heaps of promise, lots of power through the range, drives nice and steers well, disappointed I couldn't get a clean run in.
I'm sure with the problem fixed the car will live up to its expectations, hope I can get another invite in the future.:)

Have some in car vid, will put together an edit when I get the chance.:)

I saw it get a 14.7 in, but didn't see anything else quicker than that :(

Thanks Rob for organising this and inviting us Z33/Z34 guys.

It was my 1st time at the drags and it was great fun.

The best time I got was a 14.7 with a bad launch, lots of wheelspin (worn Bridgestone Re050A) & missing 3rd gear. Also, my clutch seemed to be slipping more as well. :(

Another 370Z was due to come along but alas he sold his car just this week. FYI, he managed to do consistent 13.9s with light bolt-ons and very heavy 20" wheels.

I managed to go for 3 runs before I had to leave. I'm looking forward to going again and getting into the 13s. :)

Wish I had more time to get some photos in. Only managed these three just before I left.

Agreed, smashing out a good time in a powerful Z32 is NOT as simple as people might think ESPECIALLY if it's a manual.

14s is stock time & if you sat Rob in a stock car he'd most likely smash that out pretty easily (stock TT that is) I've seen it done many many times by various people without a whole lot of fuss.

Anything down to flat thirteens I found (at our local track Meremere) to be fairly easy to get & ran fairly consistently with the biggest hurdle always being traction - we are talking wheel spin even at the top end in third gear!

To break in to twelves on road tyres is a REALLY big challenge - unless you have an autotragic but then that's not driving IMO

Typically a set of slicks is worth about one second off your time on good road tyres if your running higher times than twelves.

Once you're lower than twelves then OBVIOUSLY slicks can make a MUCH more difference, a Z32 that can run ten flat on slicks is not very likely to run an eleven on (real) street tyres.

We had a drag day over here on Sunday, my car ran a zero flat - it stayed at home in the garage while I went and did some work at the shop :(

It was an awesome day aside from the freezing wind. Didn't break anything or catch fire and beat my old PB.

The old federal rsr's weren't the best from Zedfest but did better than I expected them too. When we go up again I'll definately look into some sticky tyres like the Mickey Thompson et streets and jump into the 12's.

As Nem said on the day no one runs a 10 on there first pass. Its all practice.

Aside from our Zeds there were some amazing cars that were running too with a great mix of cars form methonal burning dedicated drag cars to sleeper 9 second wagons. Personal favourite was the wide body Honda NSX running low 11's.

Well done Rob for organising the event, as always a great attitude. Should do it again next year.

    Hey Rob,
Lose the silly short shifter and get a 4:1 diff or a 4:4 diff would be even better, do a burnout and you will be on the money.

Sounds like you guys had a good day, some of you may have caught the bug.
Wiz pity you had issues with 1st to 2nd, you should have tried a 2nd gear start.

    Only had two starts

Ed, thought it was me the first time, practiced the gate before the next run but still wouldn't go in, Rob had two runs also and he had the same issues on his second run, if I had a third run then second would have been the go.:)

    Head gasket...

No not really -big piston/bore clearance with low silicon pistons. It's always been a bit smokey until it gets warm.
