I took the Zed back today and it was excellent. I am very happy :D In fact, on my drive home the zed was doing that thing where everythings just smooth and it just flies around the corners... and ohhhhh... it was good :D

Anyway, I took it to Emmanuel and he took about 1 hour out to look through it. We found that the coolant temp sensor was corroded and stuffed so he replaced that. The two injector plugs at the front were loose as well (corrosion?) and they were not firing(?). He tightened them.

We took it for a test drive and it was a bit better but not 100%.

We got it back to Amec and he checked the timing which was at 13-14 degrees. He adjusted that and she is running smooth as...

He said he plans to have a tech day there soon so I can replace the injector plugs then or have it done for $150. I think I will wait tho...

I'm very happy all in all.

Btw - a car was there BLX-04 (I think) is it one of you guys? Also a purple Zed...

yet again this should have been picked up first time >>

When the ECU coolant temp sensor is overly corroded or has failed then the thermo fan will spin constantly irrespective of the coolant temp. This warning signal tells you that the coolant sensor is playing up. Since the coolant temp sensor was replaced I can only assume that the sensor was truely stuffed which would have definitely made the thermo fan spin constantly.

I assume that once the timing was adjusted then the base idle also was adjusted as changing timing will change the idle. Was that done?

People can bitch to me about bagging Amex but it's these posts of mine that are most probably teaching Amec how to diagnose 300ZX issues as their customers go back to Amec quoting what I have said.

A tech day at Amex - now that will be interesting. :)
