    Hey Guys,
I tried to do the interior of the Zed today (tan vinyl) but after 5 hours of doing it, it turned out very very wrong!

It's a lot harder job than I thought (as is warned in numerous posts and FAQs)... There is a lot of excess and ahhhh... *sigh* it just looks crap...

I was wondering if you guys could point me to anyone who would be able to do the interior? Everything but the seats? At this point probably something not too pricey either...

    Nesh

    some help

    hey mate,
i'm about to tackle this in the next few weeks myself. just wondering, how does it look crap? what are the parts you've stuffed up on? pics would be helpful.
i've worked with vinyl a bit before, and from my experience, the secret is time and patience. often people get excited and try to finish it by the end of the day etc. your best bet is to take as long as it takes, don't set goals. the other trick is to do little bits each day. usually what causes the problems is when we reach boiling point and get impatient. i'd recommend slowing it down, taking your time.
did you buy one of the kits off the group buy? i'd recommend going to spotlight or something, where you can get plenty of vinyl for a lot cheaper ($12 a metre and you'll need no more than 3) and you'll be able to muck around with it a bit more.
if i'm just saying what you've already done, ignore me.
don't stress too much, just leave it for the day, give it a day then come back to it. it may require redoing it, but the only way to get good at it is to do it over and over again. and take your time, there's no race!!
    good luck with it!
    cheers.

    Thanks Jaybo :)

Yeh that's what I did actually - Spotlight, a whole heap of material cost $15 which is enough to do pretty much everything but the door...

I'll post some pics soon... The main problem was getting the pieces cut properly and just getting out wrinkles from excess. I'll probably take it to an upholsterer though because I've spend 2 days on it and it just isn't what I wanted it to look like :( (meaning perfect :) )

if you want to cut it to size...

iron out your old twed stuff and make templates from them... i've been using vinyl from spotlight but it is peeling off... and im using 3M spray adhesive...

it seems pretty think... maybe you can get thinner stuff?

I might just got for some swede or something similar..

I got this spray stuff from Bunnings...

the brand is called Fuller(?) or something and it seems to work really well...

I did cut out the pieces from teh old bits but I keep leaving too much excess *sigh*

    good glue

    hey guys

i did the interior kit with adhesive spray its shit!!!!!!!! it looks shit and is a pain in the ass!!

basically tho i rang up motor trimmers and they can get you this contact shit which they use when doing interiors its better (and cheaper) than adhesive spray for only $10 per litre, id be going for this if anyone wants to try this kit.

also someone should get interior magics to make his pieces bigger as theres fuck all overhang on the pieces, and some pieces didnt even fit for me!!

    just my 2 c
