Hey, I recently bought a project car, which has had these trim pieces replaced with black ones. The guy couldn't be bothered attaching them properly, so he sikaflexed them in. I suspect this will cause issues with trapped moisture... plus I really should remove them before sending the car to have the paint fixed up. I'm probably going to destroy these in the process of removing them... Does anyone have a set of the old chrome ones available for sale by any chance? Cheers -Shamas
I believe you are referring to the top mouldings. They are not chrome, although the rubber may have deteriorated (or been deliberately stripped) on yours. They should be fixed with clips. Depending on how much of a hurry you are in I am waiting for more stock of the mouldings to arrive for listing at https://rgsperformance.au/collectio...roducts/nissan-oem-top-moulding-kit-for-300zx I have moulding clip sets in stock at https://rgsperformance.au/collectio...oducts/moulding-clip-set-for-nissan-z32-300zx
Yeah, those are the ones. I just remember that the ones on my old zed back in the day were chrome looking, and the ones on the new zed are brand new black ones. I figured since I actually don't mind the chrome, I might find someone who replaced theirs, and wants to sell their old ones... I doubt I can salvage them, given the sheer volume of sikaflex the guy used to attach them. I disassembled one of the targa tops today, hoping that at least those ones were done properly (since it's just screws from the inside), but nope... the screws were all just floating around inside the targa top from when he ripped the old trim off, and the sikaflex he used had oozed in through the old screw holes. Yikes... The only ones I *may* be able to salvage are the main windscreen mouldings. I won't know for sure until I remove them, but it seems these ones are attached properly for most of their length, and just sikaflexed at the very top. If I can remove that sikaflex, then I can reuse them. Perhaps you can tell me if i'm actually likely to run into issues from having these attached like this?! Is water meant to drain away through those channels under the mouldings? I didn't realise you were the man behind RGS Performance. When did you open your store? It's nice to see there's somewhere more local to shop now, rather than getting everything from czp. I did notice RGS sold the set, and much more affordably than most overseas sellers (except perhaps amayama). If I do end up destroying these, and can't find someone with an old chrome set they want to get rid of, I will likely end up buying from you when they eventually come back into stock.
