I am thinking about chaning my crown gear in my TT diff to 4.10, just wondering if it will make the diff get too much hotter?

    any cons on doing this?

You can't just change the crown... Where are you getting it from? Won't get any hotter if you are using Nissan gears or Leader gears.

crown gear, gearset whatever, but i'm thinking its too expensive atm anyway :( Just found out the price for a kaaz one and its 2400 :S

    Egg ....

    Kaaz gearset...

...are close ratio gears for your gearbox.

Leader 4.1 diff gears for Z32 are about $740. :)

    that's pretty cheap.
I just buggered the diff in my hilux.
a second hand one for my lux was $1250 plus fitting.
    (meanwhile it's a 3.0L TD, so a weird little 3.73 ratio LSD)

    nope,$595usd + $140usd shipped to Aust = $940 aud landed,i spoke to Greg the other day ;)
fitment ranges from $350-$700 depending who does it,thats not taking out the subframe and refitting the subframe, thats fitting it into the diff only

Hey .... I have a TT Hardtop SWB manual with NA rear end and subframe installed .... it's great .... fast off the line, boost comes on faster, 100km's rev is about 2650 in 5th gear which is higher than the stock TT setup .... but other than than it's a great mod to do. easier than trying to change the ratio with just the diff... quicker out of the corners that's for sure ... downlow is great .... highend hasn't been an issue either.... 180km .... next Track day I'll be doing with a long straight is September ... then another October .... so we'll see how it goes then .... no stock speed cut .... no heat issues on my set-up ..... previous owner I know... did it and it's been like that for 3 years now no worries at all and track tested kept up with higher boosting Zeds running the Race Logic traction control out of the corners .... I love it. mmm but I'm installing the Race Logic traction control myself soon too ....

Its what I got quoted from Driveline - changing the subframe etc. seems like a massive job just to be quicker down low =/ and I just got a one piece tailshaft installed

$2400 eck ! You can get the whole NA subframe complete with diff, and everything else you need for almost nothing from the wreckers .... well here in NZ anyway .... cause it's not much use for them to sell for anything else..... if you do try to get it from a wrecker don't tell them what you want it for ... they ramp up their bloody $$$ then ! > And you can get rid of Hi-Cas that way too ...

    See Mike Smiths ... http://www.zfilms.org/MWSMotorsports/index.html

    It's a big 65mb video so you'll need broadband.

Nah Mate it's more than that .... your turbo's spool up faster ... because your rev come on faster ... over taking is awesome because in 5th you just put ya foot down and use the torque which is stronger .... change into thrid and floor it ... whoohoo ... have a look at the MS video I posted the link above to see what I mean... I have 1 pce driveshaft and alloy lighten flywheel so it pretty good. Remember because the revs are little bit higher with the diff ratio theZed seems to come on boost faster. You know how you sort of feel that point where she wants to rev out and go for it ... well maybe you have to drive it to know what I mean ... It's either like holding a higher rev or being in one gear lower and being able to floor it and get her to respond faster .... it's addictive ...:)

not really, add the cost of a new tailshaft and an n/a rear subframe and that n/a diff is weaker, the leader gears in a t/t frame are the way to go for sure :)
As far as hicas, thats a no brainer to get rid of anyway

I'd assume the leader gears would be "tougher"

its the driveshafts in the n/a subframe which is the weak point, they are thinner

The big zed diff is one of the toughest available anywhere. Its actually bigger diameter than a ford 9 inch which is generally regarded as bullet proof.

IMO anyone who wants to increase their cruise revs by 400 @ 100K on a road car has rocks in their heads. TT is plenty fast enough as it is.

Now for a track car thats another story entirely. :D

Nah im selling a NA subframe with it to this is a full kit minus the pasinger side lower arm.

Are leader gears as simple as removing old ones and putting new ones in or is there moddification required ?
