Maybe some serious heads should get together and work out how to approach the top turkey who organises these events.....and set a few records straight...:nono:

As far as i have searched, heard, read about these beautiful fast cars, i have seen nothing but positives... It owns the nissan name and should be treated equally to all the others who share it....

Not sure whether to see it as jealousy or just plain bloody rudeness....

Seeing the pics that people have taken of the zeds who represented us on the track and the show n shine etc, there are many of us who take just as much if not more pride in our rides of joy...

I am proud to be a 300zx owner and so is the rest of the heavy/turtle family... :D

Problem in Q is there are hardly any active Z32 members in the Z Car Club, its the S30 (240 etc Z) blokes who are most active and who do most of the work. Personally I'm interested in all Zeds but some are excessively S30 centric for sure, which I find a bit sad really.

The other thing is that hardly any Z32's compete in motorsport in Q, Pete (Fleet) used to do well at sprints but unfortunately he can no longer participate, which is a shame. On the other hand a fair few S30's do compete so rightly or wrongly some think they are a bit better than other Zed model owners.

The funny thing is though 99% of the S30 owners are good blokes so basically the rivalry is friendly even if sometimes it does not seem so. Anyway, thats enough from me, hope things are a bit clearer now.

I too felt the same as you when I attended the 07 Nats..and to hear you say a similar thing about the 09 Nats sounds a bit concerning..especially hearing that not one Z32 picked up a trophy, surely I thought one of us would have got something in the Show and Shine...

Anyways...My plan is to attend the 2011 Nats, and if I'm not satisfied I'll be attending Zedfest instead from there on..:zlove:

    spot on pete

Like yourself, i have also been to the last three Nationals and observed this them and us attitude first hand.
And although having a show winning car in past events i didn't even bother presenting my car for the show and shine at Warwick, because i knew it would be a waist of time.
and it looks like my doubts were proved correct
My main gripe with the weekend though was the grading of the cars for the sprints,
how a road registered car with a few mods can be expected to compete with out and out race cars like Mark Berrys R34 and Jp's slotcar etc was ridiculous.
I pointed this out when filling in the entry form that having cars of such speed difference on the track at the same time was a dangerous practice.
At scutineering i was informed that i would be in race class regardless.
Although i was the fastest out of our group of eight Zeds, my time was still 10 seconds a lap slower than the R34, not even in the same ball park.
Saying that i did enjoy the three lap format, pity that individual times weren't available though.
    And i won't even mention the drags.
Apart from all that, i had a great weekend, and if i'm still kicking will be back for the next one, lets hope that it's a level playing field for all.:)

And there's over 900 more where they came from!

Had a ball over the weekend (Kristy and Craig had a lot to do with that... thanks heaps, Guys!). 3500km and 20+ runs down the drag strip, and the only time I lifted the bonnet was at the Show 'n' Shine! I thought that was pretty good for a 20year old car (although some of those 1600's were incredible... had my arse handed to me a few time at the drags). Had lots of runs against the red 280ZX with the LS1 transplant, and until I figured out how to get a better reaction time, our runs were pretty much equal. I was a bit disappointed with the times (10.24 the best) now that the Unichip is fully functional, but I'll put that down to wheelspin off the line and also on the 1-2 change, but the trap speed was higher than at Wakerie over the same distance (120-125 vs 110-115khp). Be interesting to do the full 1/4 mile.
    Roll on next time!

    Warwick trip

Finally made it home yesterday, and no alleys to be seen this time lol

Was great to see familiar faces again, and the chance to relax and chill out.

Leigh and I had an interesting trip down to Warwick, everything from bumping roads to echidna's to watch out for as we drove over one late at nite and heard the cracking of the spikes and scraping underneath the zed.
Thankful for the energy drinks and music on the long drive down.

Left Rocky at sunrise Fri morning after not much sleep (from a certain location as told at the Shardy Shack party lol) and finally made it to Warwick about 5pm.

The hotel was very nice to stay in, and short walking distance to party central which was great. Thanks to Kristy n Craig for putting on a great party Fri nite. Didnt stay long, wasnt in much of a party mood, and didnt get much sleep leading up to the trip down.

Baz's Shardy Shack is always a great nite! Big thanks to Baz and Annette for allowing Leigh n I to crash out at your house after the party, and waking up to hear black crows is always something different.

Looking forward to attending Armidale, and hopefully this time in my zed *crossed fingers* :zlove:

    Here's some pics.....

aza in his n/a did very well by the looks of those times  how many turbo cars were slower?

  16. Wizard

    It's more about

    Ability and Aza has plenty.
It's not that they are slower, there on a race track going as fast as they dare, just that some are faster than others.
I reckon they all need a pat on the back for having a go.
Aza needs more help though, 11 Zeds there, 7 from NSW, 3 from Vic and only Aza from Qld in a Qld event.:(
Lets get organised for Wakefield in 2011 and get as many Z32's out on the track as we can.:)

yeh that is a little dissapointing from us qlders.... once my zed is on the road, it will only be used as a weekend/track car so hopefully he can give me a few pointers when i am out there with him :)

any links to video footage of the track?? guessing it was a smaller track??

Congratulations to all that attended, from what I know no-one from WA made it across, but really, driving from here to probably the farthest point in the Zed map of AUS is a pretty big ask. How disappointed would you feel if you made the trip and there wasn't even a Z32 category to compete in?

BTW has Best Z32 and Best Modified Z32 been dropped since the NSW Nationals, or is the judging categories made up by the governing state and not carried over from the previous Nationals?

Zedfest sounds like it could be fun next year so I'll start aiming for that, but I'm looking forward to when there's an event in Melbourne again (as I missed Phillip Island) or even SA.
