As they say anything is possible, but to make 400rwkw would probably be looking at 15k in other gear so why skimp on a few thou for a freshen up and forgies at least

I believe it. I'm suprised by how many people think you MUST have forged internals to make huge power figures. Very few cars are ever built that need to sustain these power levels for long periods as most are road cars. As long as it has a quality tune there are no problems. Nissan built a very strong engine.

I think its quite humorous that the first thing aussie owners do is call BS, just because we don't get the same results over here. The US is simply miles ahead of us in terms of quality of their builds, plus making new improvements and pushing the frontiers of what we think we know.

For those that don't know specialty Z, his workshop car runs 9.8s without nitrous, just on boost. I think that says enough about the quality of their work and accuracy of their dynos. At the end of the day you cant fake the 1/4 mile. If a guy was selling a car tuned at their shop, I wouldnt see any reason not to believe.

Alot of the us cars are using water injection, although people in aus dont even give it a second though. Even though it has proven to be quite effective.

I have heard something about oxidizing parts though.

The point is why would you fck around with stock internals when you are talking about the large investment of time and money into an engine capable of producing that power and a vehicle capable of handling it.

yeah , things are a little different there but i still think that's a lot of power to make with a stock engine, i would think there is a bit more work to it to make that sort of power , and to maintain it holding 400rwkw on a stock engine , i think it a bit much for the parts to hold up for long at all , yes the vg30dett is a good engine out of the box .... but i cant see it lasting all that long with 400rwkw

Because stock internals aren't that bad. Turn it around the other way and ask why would you mess with a perfectly fit engine just to replace the internals.
Really all your doing is changing out the pistons for stronger ones. The rods are very strong, and the main advantage is less reciprocating mass. Forged pistons will crack just as well as stock ones if the tune goes out so it gives very small protection for the cost added plus potentially introduces more problems into your build.

I dont think building a strong engine is completely worthless, I mean Ive gone that route, all I'm saying is that this leaving the internals alone has its merits also and isn't just a dumb idea. Its been done a lot and Im not hearing of any problems.

alot of the tt.net guys use stock blocks. or do stock rebuilds and are pushing well into the 500hp range on stock blocks with large turbos and cams on pump fuel

Exactly. Internals aside those 555s will be running close to the limit at 400rwkw, let alone 480something. Common sense people...

Forged internals are far better than stock, for one they have more material around the crown, can dissipate heat faster and crown temps are much cooler. The lower silicon content makes them much less likely to crack or chip.

With the rods, yeah they are good, but not in the same league as forged 4340 rods, better steel, better manufacture, bigger and stronger bolts.

I think the slot car did find the limit of stock rods adn bent one around the 400rwkw mark.

The stock stuff is good but using it on a 400kw motor is a mugs game

400rwkw wont be possible with a 18 year old engine its tired and puffed out. But if the engine has a standard rebuild 400rwkw will be possible, but how long will it hold?
