More info on the Exedy Sports Tuff Heavy Duty Button clutch please Caz. What sort of power/torque are these rated to? Can't find a answer on their website.

I will probably be in for this GB.. one of the sports tuff HD clutches for the TT.. let me know when you have three or four others and i will probably jump in!

might order a few other bits while im at it if this goes through,
rear main seal and plugs, maybe the "Nismo Pilot Bushing-Needle Bearing" and one of the Clutch Pivot balls, but i will see how the funds are going when this happens..

    Hi Chrispy,
The Exedy Heavy Duty Button Clutch was tested and held 535 HP(399kw) @ 5500rpm.

Rating a clutch to power is a difficult thing to do. It depends on the delivery of the power and how how the car is driven/what you are going to be doing with it. For this reason Exedy don't rate them by horsepower.

Im sure a lot of the 'quoted' power ratings from Clutch manufacturers are fabricated.

I know of some independent testing that was done a couple of years back and the only Clutches that consistently were exactly as their manufacturer stated were Exedy!

Clamp load on the Heavy Duty Sports Tuff Clutches is 1,200kg 2,645lb, (stock is 800kg)

Any chance of doing a GB on flywheels as well, I already have the Sports Tuff Heavy Duty but could be talked into a new flywheel if a GB is offered..

OK Caz, sounds good. I've already got a Exedy HD clutch which is doing me well, so I might as well go another of the same brand. I'm in no hurry, so I don't really care if this goes ahead or not.

Put me down for a Heavy Duty Button for the NA please.

Me too Caz, but which one?

My rebuild is not intended to produce a drag car or circuit car, but rather more a powerful tourer in the GT style. None of that haemorrhoid busting suspension for me.

I am loooking for a minimum 250rwkw, but I am happy to push a bit further unless the motor starts to gets fussy and cantankerous. Smooth and tractable is the plan.

So what clutch do I need? I don't want one that requires a left leg like Arnie Shwartzenegger's to operate, or a grabby one that needs the skills of a brain surgeon to nurse it off the line. Progressive, smooth and sweet is where I want to be.

    What do you think?

    Hi angrybear,
I think you would be fine with the Sports Tuff Heavy Duty. Chili is running that clutch and is happy with it. He has considerably more than 250rw/kw ;)

I wouldnt reccomend the Button Clutch for a Daily driver, they are on or off, not a smooth take up and can be annoying in traffic.

Cushion Button has the extra grab with a smooth take up/pedal.

    Caz.. :)

... put me down for the Sports Tuff Heavy Duty. :)

Timing is not particularly important - I haven't started my manual conversion yet  I will be "autoing" to Cowra.

how long are we talking? i need one fairly soon... like asap...

but im in the same boat as to which clutch to get?

mine is a daily driver, but i go for squirts every now and then... i dont mind a heavy clutch, as long as its not a bitch to take off, and i dont want to change it in three months either....

UHRYNS what sort of power are you making and do you track your car at all?

I am ordering the first lot today, will have them next week. I usuallly get them overnight, but Im expecting a couple of days due to the number I will be ordering.
So not a long wait. :)
