I don't think they would fit - I can have a closer look when I get home and let you know - can you give me the exact outer dimensions in milimetres?

It's just mounted using a few screws, through the trim into the back of the pod - the backing of the pod is 10mm MDF so it's nice & sturdy. I'll upload the pictures of the installation later tonight so everyone can see.

willami, you would have to remove your door trim to install, place the pod in the desired place, and screw in with little screw's from the back of the door into the wooden pod, also using some sort of washer between the screw and the door trim would be desirable so after time the screw dosnt tear through the door trim, no screws would hang out as long as you use the right length screws, as not to go right through the pod

and as to the guy who said some people need space to fit 6"s with big magnets, well i have 600 watt earthquake splits in my doors with a 20oz magnet and fits with clearance in stock mounting position, i dont know of any 6.5"s with a bigger magnet then this, but pods will improve the looks of the old standard grill, usually improves sound quality, but as mentioned would be better if it was angled, so that the speaker sat in a position as to throw sound toward the upper of the cabin, but all in all looks like a good quality product which is well engineered, make one to to fit a 6.5" speaker and a 4" or 5" aswell angle it upwards and i would buy one :)

    Extra Pods

    Hi All,

As the first two sets of these have been snapped up; I'm going to be taking orders for these.

I will be making a couple of sets of these this weekend, if you're interested, let me know, and payment will need to be made by this Tuesday 18th December, as they will be going to the trimmer on Wednesday.

If you are interested, but can't make the payment by Tuesday, I will be taking orders for pods (partial deposit of $50 required) to be made during my Christmas break.

If you are interested in uncovered pods (no vinyl, no paint, bare fibreglass), I can take orders for these too, and they won't have the same time constrictions that covered pods have (this is the last batch I can get into the trimmers before Christmas, and for a few days afterwards).

Uncovered pods will be $100 INC REGULAR POSTAGE.

Covered pods will be $115 INC REGULAR POSTAGE.

Express will obviously be more expensive (approx $35).

If you are interested in custom pods, please let me know - I am currently working on mock ups of dual 6.5" pods, and 6" & 4" pods.

I will be pulling apart my door trims to take installation pictures tomorrow, I will post them in this thread.

If you have any more questions, PM me or call my mobile 0423487790.

    Extra Pictures/Installation

Okay guys, here are the extra pics that you wanted - they were taken with my plugs, so there are no holes in them - obviously yours will have holes cut in them when you get them.

These are the type of screws that I use - 18mm upholstering screws. They're also used for speaker installation.

This is where I have drilled new holes for the pods - you can use washers as Nemz suggested, but I've found them adequate. Screw through the trim, into the pod. I would suggest not straying too far from where these screws are - you don't want to screw into the fibreglass, especially if you've got a painted finish.

That's what the back of the uncovered pod looks like.

    Straight on..

    Doesn't interfere with legroom..

And you should never see it from this direction, but it looks good anyway.
