Im having a problem with the clutch, maybe gears or something else but what happens is i can flog it in 1st gear and 2nd gear but when it comes to 3rd once it reaches about 3500 rpm it just revs up really quick like it was in neutral and then does it in 4th gear as well. pretty sure it is the clutch cos when it happens it shakes like when u let the clutch out really quick a mechanic thinks its something to do with pressure not being released in master cylinder or something like that. sux i cant race any serious cars:confused:

does the clutch engagement point feel closer to the floor or closer to the top of the pedal travel or somewhere in between? if its near the top of the pedal travel then its most likely that your clutch is nearly worn out.

Its close its no where near worn out the clutch has only done about 15000 k's. if it was worn out wouldnt it be a pain in the ass in every gear?

as per the other thread first thing to try would be bleeding the clutch system.

Doesn't it just give you the sh*ts, when you can't compete successfully in your local Traffic Light Grand Prix.:bash:

Its your clutch mine does exact same things feel strong and clamps ok in first and 2nd but when I hit 3rd it slips at 3500rpm :( :bash:

You are lucky mate it has lasted 15000 klms, given your insite into your driving style.

Try as Fleet suggested, bleed the clutch system (see tech section) and if it doesnt improve save up and get the clutch replaced.

Prob driving style me thinks as well, i've had to change my gear shifting style after replacing a Heavy Duty in 10,000 - 15,000 k's.

As far as my limited experience goes (i've had to replace 5 Clutches in three cars over 7 years) thats the first signs, clutch slip in 3rd + Gear. If you think about it , the higher the gear the bigger it is and so the harder it is to turn (especially when flogging off :D ) and therefore the clutch is more susceptible to slipping = first signs... BINGO!!

And most importantly road warrior'ing around = clutch death.

"Flogging off" has other more serious side effects(some of which are evident in the original thread post).:eek::biggrin::banned:

    Get onto that problem quick...

Once the clutch starts to go, it wears out EXTREMELY quick... ive had a few instances in which ive left getting a new clutch far too long and litterally had to crawl 30km's to the shop to get it changed... and sometimes ended up on the back of a tow truck...

That being said, from they 'symptoms' you described your clutch is definitly on the way out. try bleeding the clutch system as stated, but if that doesnt work you would want to start saving your money for a replacement clutch and drive something else...
