    Hi all...

    One turbo is blown :(

I've been quoted between 880 and 1400 ea to rebuild the standard ones.

I was told 2400 ea new.

Then I found some Garrett T28r ball bearing ones ( genuine ) on EBay for $1135.00ea.

One turbo shop told me to look here as people bring them in cheap he said.

    QUESTION...

    What is standard?? (smallT25?)

Will either a T25 or a T28 bolt straight up???

Other options please anyone??? I have searched and found conflicting info.

    Many ta's

seems about the right price for the rebuild, I would say risky buying turbos off ebay. Also if you wait about a month, UAS has a special mount thingy coming that will help with the bolting straight up deal.
which turbo is it though, cause I have a blown one and a good one standard that I might part with to help out a fellow zedder. good one has done 1000kms since rebuild and is off the car at the mo, other one was wrecked when they put it back on....thats another story.

bummer bout your turbo blowing too. always sucks:(

Maybe your turbo isn't blown. What's it doing? Is smoke pooring out continuely? If it's smoke on idle, could be a number of things. Not nessary a blown turbo.

    Yeah....

It is the passenger side blown.

I was questioning cheap EBay turbos, as anyone would, but these are genuine Garrett turbos ( just minus the wholesaler and shop profit ) ....

or am I getting this wrong?

    Anyone know what bolts straight on T 25 / 28 ????

Seems expensive I'd say. CZP sells them brand new (side doesn't matter) for $990 USD. Sure that's a bit more when converted, but nowhere near $2400. Who told you that crap? You can get a pair of brand new 530BB sport's for about that.

    Also, CZP says this:
After so many years, turbo charges start to wear, and lose potential horse power. Turbos will start to leak, due to aging seals and/or worn bearings. It is highly recommended that turbos are replaced with brand new Nissan replacements (unless upgrading) and not rebuilt. There has yet to be a case of a perfectly rebuilt turbo without any leaks.

Heck, check here (this is Australian site too):

here here, I agree with vbevan, I have been quoted less than that per side for gt28rs snails including engine pipes and with a setup that makes them bolt straight up. Ill check which side mine is blown on tonight and get back to you if you havnt solved it by then already though

Sadly, the T28r's are not a direct fit. The T25 is standard isn't it?

They're made by Jim Wolf. They won't bolt in as easy as some other though, as they have a 5-bolt pattern to the dumps. You need ones with 4-bolt pattern to replace stock (that's one thing anyhow).

The major manufacturers that make bolt-ons are HKS, Jim Wolf Technologies and Greddy. Probably others too, but one of those three will be easiest to find.

I want the 530BB cause it makes good power but has low lag. There are heaps of others out there.

That site I provided has some good prices for some bolt on kits. Contact them for further info, you can also check in the tech section under "links". There are a number of companies listed there who will be able to provide you with good prices on different turbos.

watr, if thats your car in our shop, the price quote was around $2400 for the PAIR of new turbos, not $2400 each!!!

they wont bolt up to the stock dump pipes which are 4 bolt, not 5 bolt.

sh&%$^%$^T. I just asked my flat mate to come down and have a look and we together have worked out that I am wrong again. I have a good passenger side turbo. No mistakes this time Its been in for about 1000kms. I pulled the engine down cause Im going for a mega horsepower rebuild so I wont be needing that any more. sorry bout my inability to tell left from right, I have inherited that from my dad who continuously gets lost on his own driveway.
anyhow, let me know if you want it, I should be able to freight it pretty easily.

    ZX2NV Z Racing Evolution

Stock Z32 turbos are T22. T25 and T28 series i.e. Garrett GT2560R and GT2860RS etc will bolt onto the manifolds and thats where it ends. A lot of adaptors etc need to be made up to adapt the turbos to our cars. UAS is putting together a bolt on kit similar and hopefully better than the kits offered by Z1 and Coz in the US. Its well under way so if you can wait a week or so the final information should be ready to release

This sounds good, but the problem is I don't think we can wait.....

I really need to know where to go and exactly what to ask for, turbo wise, so the shop can just bolt straight up the new turbos. I may be able to deal with a very slight modification ..... but nothing too big.

Any ideas. I want new ones.... thanks for thoses offering 2nd hand ones :)
