    Hi all...

The 300 is making a scraping / grinding noise under boost.

It is also only making 1/2 boost pressure.

It does a little backfire in the pipes on deceleration sometimes.

    Think turbo is blown :(

    what do you all recon???

Who, what, how much (around Brisbane) are the options????

    Experiences and advice please.

might not be much help. but last week i discovered my zed ran like shit and didnt want to boost much... and had alot of flat spots in acceleration... one of my coil packs was screwed... i also had it backfire alot. you didnt describe any smoke?? check that you dont have any boost leaks etc.

Grinding noise sounds like dead turbo.

A mate blew the turbo in our volvo 760 once... sounded awful.

    Is it blowing smoke?

    No smoke.... none at all

and when I tap underneath the car on the exhaust pipe, I hear a rattling noise that is tinny.....sounds similar to the tinny grinding noise I hear when boosting???

    wtf?

    could be a collapsed cat

fully restricting one exhaust causing no boost..., i'd get your cats checked out.

No smoke??? Doesn't sound like turbo then.

    More likely cats as suggested.

How do you know you're only reaching half boost?

The 'el-cheapo' after market boost guage says so and you can feel the lack of power.

unbolt your front section away from the cats and take her for a quick spin and see if it's making more boost and feels better

And the backfire could be the unburnt fuel that the cat is no longer getting rid of. Esp. if on deceleration, as (assuming you have BOV's) you will have moment of richness when the BOV's go off.

if your cats have collapsed the material may be blocking them, which would account for the lack of boost, being unable to expel as much exhaust gases as it was previously. I'm guessing dead cats as well.
