Yes one more on gear boxes I am about to change the oil and filter in the auto in my car I was planning on putting in the castrol recommended oil TRANSMAX I see where they say 7.7 litres for a oilchange now I remember reading that you can not remove all the oil and the artical said he changed it 3 times to make sure it was clean.
I am not planning on changing it 3 times so how much oil will it take when I drain it 7.7 litres or less.
I am sure I read that in the TECH section here is this correct I intend putting the car on blocks.
The filter kit I am using is as recommended in the TECH section again from a nissan patrol with the same box I have removed the lip as recommended with a hacksaw and it looks good this cost me $34 from Bursons here in Altona they quoted me the same thing to fit my car a Turbo $69.
I intend when removing the old one to check to make sure they are the same before trying to fit it but on paper they look the same filter.
I am going to then try and clean it using turps and see how it come up as a exercise.--------------------BEACHY

Might take as little as 3 litres. Check your oil level before the change and then measure what comes out when you drop the pan. Put back in maybe half a litre less, then slowly top up to the right level.

Thanks mate I will do that I just spotted Mobile syn A.T.F on e.bay under oil for $10.90 per quart here in Melbourne if its true its good oil and would be a big save for me anyway I checked Mobils site as well and its ok its DEXTRON 111 which we need.
ANYTHING TO SAVE A $$$$$$$ he has group buys as well on different oils could be a winner for some of us --------------BEACHY

Don't forget to check the oil level with the engine running. Mine took almost 4 litres on a refill (the rest stays in the torque convertor).

Don't refill with Synthetic oil unless you do a complete flush.
Tranny shops drain mineral oil, then run Synthetic thru until all old fluid is flushed from Tq Converter.
