Well, I have had her running just over a week now and thought I'd post a pic.

Firstly let me say, if any ACT members need a hand doing their first plenum pull, I'd be too happy to lend a hand. I don't want to brag or anything, but I know my way around that engine bay *pretty* well now.

As you can tell, I'm pretty pleased with myself. THere were some hair-tearing moments for a bit when I had a misfire but now she's back to her old self, or even better.

In addition to bypassing the stupid under-plenum water hoses that were the catalyst for this whole operation (with high-pressure EFI fuel line, heh) I also
-removed the EGR assembly from back of motor, installed blanking kit
-which made it a LOT easier (possible) to change the passenger side turbo coolant line
-removed the EGR solenoid and associated vacuum hose
    -removed the AIV's
-replaced the intake rocker cover gasket
-replaced cracked and brittle injector connectors
-replaced all PRVR(?) hoses and valves
-replaced throttle body hoses (which were cooked solid) with nice red samco silicone hoses
-I finally bit up the nerve to install my bling front strut brace now that I know the plenum will be staying put for a few thousand k's

And probably a bunch of other crap I can't remember. All told, I'm surprised I managed to get it done in *only* 2 months. A lot of the issue was the old fuel, coolant and vaccuum hoses which were pretty well baked on after 100 000k's. I had to take a few days off each time I worked on it so my hands could heal up (petrol + cuts don't mix).

Anyway, I couldn't have done it without the forum. It took me 3 posts and a good study of Baron's motor just to get the EGR valve out! And as for reconnecting the vaccuum lines...

Anyway, the car runs great now, and the engine bay is soooo much simpler. I reckon I could get the plenum off in under an hour now if I had to.

NOw I have to start optioning ECU socketing, bigger injectors, boost...

Oh lord. I must not have learned anything from my ordeal.

    price

u reckon u can give me an overall price on wat all this cost ya, thinkin bout a plenum pull myself.

The "neccessary" things cost me around AUD$600.

I ordered them from Coz (concept z performance) back when the AUD was around 80c US.

You could probably save on that depending on what you were doing. I got new upper plenum gasket, IAAV gasket, the EGR blanking plates and exhaust bolt (god knows why you'd want to leave that junk in there, but theoretically you could avoid this cost, it's just a PITA to think you have to undo them each time) as well as 2 x intake rocker cover gaskets, the PCV valves and new hoses, lower injector insulators, basically everything that is recommended on zed4life's site (zedcare?)

THen there was about $30 odd dollars of fuel line, but this is probably overkill, I think you could just use regular water line at around 1/3 the price.

I didn't end up cleaning my injectors, I just replaced the lower insulators since I'm thinking of upgrading the the injectors soon. A few more thousand k's won't hurt the stockies. But if you plan to keep stockies getting them cleaned and o-ringed is another couple hundred bucks.

Then I spend AUD$220 or so on new samco silicone hoses, and I bought a new series II ptu from Caz for $275, which strictly speaking isn't really part of a plenum pull but I got the hoses because I had to pay shipping from the US anyway. I also had to spring for some new injector connectors.

So you could spend upwards of a grand depending on what you want to do.

Well, I dunno if I did it "myself" - w/o the forum (and your rear of engine pic) I th

I think I would have just thrown the damn thing in the bin.

In all seriousness, Baron, I would happily have paid someone to do it, if they knew what they were doing, but here in the ACT it's like

Mech: "Well, it could be one of those hoses under the plenum"

    me: "yeah, looks like."

Mech: "well, you see, the problem is, if you wanted to replace those hoses, you'd have to take off the whole inlet manifold to get to them. Yeah, dunno what you can do about that."

Me: "uh, yeah... ok then. Cheers."

In reality it's a full days job + bling time, but like two weekends and prep work in between should do it. But you still did well:)
