    300 or soarer?

I would probably go a 300zx, My uncle has got a soarer v8 and since he has had it , it has been giving him alot of trouble and lots of things have been going wrong. He hasnt driven it much because it has been sitting on a hoist for most of its life. I have driven it and it ls like driving a truck it didnt handle very well, but it was a great car when it was working but it goes through the fuel alot. I have more fun in my TT Zed. But is really up to what you want. Performance or luxury!!

I never thought about buying a Soarer. I wanted an awesome sports car - that's why I bought the Z. Plus, it has looks that are unbelievable for its age (16 years). I'm not saying they're a rubbish car, just that I don't think they can be matched against each other effectively, as they have different aims and styles.

ive driven a zed and been in a soarer. the zed is comfortable and you can get suspension that is compliant and comfortable with the roads.
the driving position is second to none you feel in such command in a 300, jet fighter styles.

family friends have soarers and they are mighty comfy but suck going around corners, feel slow heavy and lateral support is pretty poor compared to the Z.

they can fit 4 adults decently however whereas the Z is abit more cramped for 4 seater trips best suited to short distances.

Z's look far hotter and chicks notice them alot more than soarers, women like the curves thats my opinion.

but anyway the TT soarer has little low down grunt but that could be changed with small modifications and its about the same performance arena as a 300zx manual NA stock. but can be upgraded and hold its own.

if i was you and i wanted transport thats sporty id get a 300zx 4 seater or 2 depending on your needs and manual.

    I hate saying this

But for a daily drive to work neither the Zed nor a Soarer is suitable. Get real and get a econobox car which will give you maximum reliability and cheap running costs. I am lucky and get to walk to work each day, but if I had to drive there, no way in hell would I would use my TT Zed to get there. Also I personally would have a guilt complex adding to global warming because I used a Hi performance car for daily transport. My opinion is probably not shared by most people on this forum, but each his own....

well my z is my only car.. so its my daily driver.. 50km a day to and from work is not good for my wallet, the car, environment and my left knee!! (damn peak hour and manual) but what can you do? :zlove:

Keep away from the V8 soarer if you want performance. The TT soarer is a good car, although you have to spend a packet on them to make them quick. As for the interior, soarer is much nicer than a Z (stock) but it really is a totally different type of car to the Z. The Z has that 80's/early 90's sports car feel and look to it which is what I like personally.

My TT Z was my first ever car and I drove it for 3 years with little or no problems until I did a rod bearing. I would go with the N/A if you don't want to be spending money etc, but if it doesn't bother you, any of the cars you have listed are good daily drivers, except for the V8 soarer.

Ive got a manual z32 tt and a v8 limited soarer. For daily use i have to say the soarer is better, its more relaxed and luxury and very reliable. I know i shouldnt be saying bad stuff about a zed especially on this website but i really believe the toyota engines probably better.(please dont comment on what i just sed).

    V8LTD or Zed..

I have both in the driveway,
The Toyota is a great car, a luxo 2 door barge, great for touring about, awesome stereo for a 16 yr old car, I don't think the soarer/lexus should ever be classed as a sports anything, sure you can modify it into something that goes well and handles ok, but you can even do that to a Falcon.. ha ha

The Zed is a Sports car hands down, if you up for any country miles the Zed is an awesome open road tourer, eats up the miles and loves to be pushed..

Did I mention the Lexus is up for sale.. lol

PS imo the soarer forum is infested with the biggest bunch of stuck up tossers I have ever had the displeasure of having to be involved with or learn from... (I've been wanting to say that for a long time)

Targa Top!!! weather is heating up ;)

For me the main appeal of the Z32 is the looks. It's such a sexy car!

Once I started actually researching the car, I found that you can get leather, 4 seats, turbo and non turbo. And the targa top.

Basically I feel that it's a versatile sports car.

    • Looks the Part
    • Has the horses
    • Fun for summer
    • Can seat 4 people

And Seaweed! I share your thoughts. I'm lucky enough to only live 5-6K's away from work (it's like 3k's LOS) And I ride my bike to work most days. If I had to travel 50Ks 5 days a week, I'd most likely buy an econobox or catch PT... and probably ride 1 or 2 days a week.

    EDIT:

Drove my mates commonwhore back from Echuca-Moama on Saturday, had cruise control most of the way. After a 4 hour a drive, my mates were gonna go home and get a nap b4 we headed out to a party later. However I took the roof off my manual TT and drove it into the sunset. (I was heading west and it was 5 or 6pm...) It's definately a great experience to drive a Z. I just jumped in and felt so engaged!

And the manual N/A. Definitely still got some balls!! First Z32 I test drove was a manual NA. And I was quite impressed, I only got the TT because the dealer didn't have an N/A for me.

    My Opinion

I have had an NA Zed and have recently bought a Soarer V8.

I think the most important thing to consider is how you will feel about the car after 12 months of ownership.

IMO the main issue that bothers me is that there is a lot less feel in the soarer than the Zed. In the Zed you know where you are going all the time and the steering is sensitive, responsive and well balanced. In the soarer its not.

If you think about quater mile time, or track times, dont bother with the Soarer. In 12 months you will end up wanting to "get a little more out of it" and throw money after a prospect that is not readily obtained.

I got a Soarer because I was doing a lot of runs down south (300-400km trips), regularly had more than two people to carry and no longer desired a "FAST" car. Therefore the Soarer suits me overthe Zed.

Of course, the soarer still has the power to accelerate past cars on the freeway and the steering and suspension is good enough to feel safe and in control, but it is by no means a sports car. Keep that in mind
