Non-divorced dumps

Has anyone used dumps that are just single pipe? It is something an exhaust shop could make cheap as, and i wonder how much real life difference there is compared to divorced dumps. I have a friend with an s15 and his dump is just a single pipe with an elbow bend and his car performs very well.

I understand divorced are better but is it only something you notice on graphs?

Your turbo will spool faster with divorced dumps. The dumps from the group buy were cheaper than an exhaust shop could make them anyway.

The majority of divorced pipes aren't split for long enough to

really make a difference. CES are the only ones I have seen that are split for a significant length hence offering preformance benefits.

I would be interested to see a dyno comparisson of tuneagent style (like mine) VS non split 2.5" dumps. From what I understand there would be no difference.

Most exhaust shops will charge more to make than you could buy them for.

I have heard only good things about the CES Dump pipes

At $450 each for non-HPC coated or $595 HPC coated goes to show that you pay for quality made parts. ;)

The dump pipes and for that matter the whole exhaust system is something that NEEDS to be done right for any car.

It will influence your performance quite considerably if you have any old fella fabricate your exhaust.

Its worthwhile forking out the dollars for parts that have proven results. ;)

    My 2cents.

It won't affect spool at all because the wastegates are closed

actually without an electronic boost controller the wastegate isn't closed. Also divorced will have much less turbulance.

Wow that is expensive considering the recent group buy price

Has anyone tried the CES ones?
    cheers

CES are the same as UAS stock -they're on John's car and a couple

of customers' cars I think Shifter and Ports but I may be wrong there.

They're more expensive yes but are a much better design than the more common style. But yeah given price difference you're looking at an expensive couple of KW which is why I let UAS talk me into tuneagent style dumps rather than the expensive CES ones I was originally after (cheaper to buy from UAS than CES don't ask me why).
