what's the recommended wastegate spring pressure based on max boost

you intend on running. Eg. I currently have 12psi actuators i.e. they start to open the wastegate from 12psi onwards and I run around 21psi max boost.

My concern is that from 12 to 21psi the wastegate could creep open with the 9psi difference too early in the boost range. I intend on running at least 25psi with potential for 30psi depending on when it decides to ping with my lower than standard CR.

Should I go to something like 14, 16, 18 or even 24psi actuators?

I never intend on running low boost ever again and I have a heavy right foot so manifold pressure is usually (when the bloody thing is running) always in the +ve.

Get an electronic boost controller that will only let pressure to the wastegate once max pressure is reached. Or get one of these manual boost controllers

if your running atleast 25psi.. go the 24psi actuators and a proper closed loop EBC, which will hold the wastegate shut completely until the desired boost is reached (they actually close it again if the boost drops off

Agree! if you dont have an EBC you should get one!

a good ebc will open or close the gates, at your setting.

That $35 boost controller will actually block the wastegate when boost drops. It is quite a smart design to do the same job as a EBC. The only advantage of the EBC is rpm/gear boost settings.

    Agree ball and spring valves

have there uses a lower preasures, i think if running 25psi the refinement and safty features of an ebc would become important. Ive had both, and both increase boost preasure, but thats where the comparison ends.
