why don't you just get everyone to put in a bit extra $$$

you shouldn't have to be out of pocket

If the value of the shipment is over $1000 you will be charged gst and duty

if customs thinks the value is over $1000 you may have to show evidence of the value.

No duty - FTA with the US, just assert that the goods were sourced/made in US and you should be fine.

    Apparantly..

It was marked as sender paying all duties so fingers crossed! It's with the UPS customs brokerage at the moment, and they are just waiting for a clearance and then they'll send it all to me. What happened to the good ol days of a package in brown paper and string showing up on your door step?

You guys should have arranged to get a manufacturers declaration

The declaration needs to state that the good were not only manufactured in the US but are also made of US sourced materials (majority). I would check to see if UPS plan on charging you for their brokerage fees, nothing is free and as people found out the hard way recently with some bodykits.

    Update #99218828

Afternoon everyone! I bet you're sick of getting these updates by now.. but there shouldn't be many more! The package has been cleared from customs and will be arriving at my place of work tomorrow afternoon.
Unfortunately there was a $170 landing and clearance fee, but no customs or GST.. I've attached the invoice for the payment I made

    Invoice

So technically I'm about $345 out of pocket over this whole exercise.. but I guess you live and learn. If people did want to throw in $10-$20 onto of their local postage around Australia that would of course be appreciated, but you are no way obliged to as I probably should have looked into it a bit further.

    Anyway!

I'll unpack all these tomorrow evening and get some rough idea of size and shipping possibilities. or, if anyone wants to pick them up or organise shipping from their end that's more than fine with me.

Once I figure out the shipping I'll send the price to each person that needs it, and then if you could just transfer across that $$ I'll send them out!

Thanks for sticking with me on this one guys, hopefully we'll all be able to sleep easy in knowing that our doors aren't filling up with water everytime it rains. :)

Any questions just reply to this in the GB forum or the usual:

    Re: Update #99218828

Just let me know what my portion of the additional costs are and I will pay it, ie $170 / # of kits, and I'll pay you when I pick it up, I'll be in the ACT within the next 3 weeks and we can do it then.

I'd be surprised if most people we not prepared to put in for the additional costs, just let us know.

    $10 ea should cover it

That would cover the landing fees etc.. I'll wear the bank fee as that was something I could have probably done better if I had a bit more knowledge about it! :)

So I've unpacked them, they look great and I'll post an idea on shipping soon.

    Cheers,
    Michael

Anyone know any good shipping companies?

I'm going to look into it tomorrow morning, but was just wondering if there were any recommendations? Unfortunately they are about 10cm too long to post :( 105cm is the max limit for Aust Post, and they are about 115..

Re: Anyone know any good shipping companies?

I'm in an area where ONLY OZ post will treat as Sydney Metro. So hold on to it and I will pick up from you.

I understand that there is a "bus post" delivery done by bus companies, that was used in the group buy for the one piece tailshafts a few months ago, but I cannot find any reference to them, ? perhaps some one else can assist

    Group post to WA members.

Would it be easier to post to one address and then distribute them locally? I dont mind doing it if so.

    Yo :D

SO just waiting for a couple more emails back from people with where they want them shipped, but Vincent has given me the good tip off for freight through Greyhound Busfreight. It will probably end up being about $25-$35 each, depending on where you are, but I'm still just looking for the cheapest way. Will keep you updated!

    Cheers,
    Michael

    Shipping info

Ok, I've almost sorted it out! I'm still waiting to hear back from quite a few people RE: shipping details or pickup (you know who you are!!) but for those who have gotten back to me it should be as follows:

$23 (seal kit only) delivered to your door via courier

$33 (full kit) delivered to your door via courier

For those in TAS.. I'm just waiting to call greyhound tomorrow about this because their web site says that Melbourne is the closest agent.. I'm not so sure about this! So I'll let you know...

Anyway, I'll confirm each persons total to them via email very soon.

    Cheers,
    Michael
