Question about ZControl

I was wondering if it was possible to use ZControl to temporarily change ECU settings for 1/4 Mile runs when I go to the local Test N Tunes.

I currently have a Blitz Access ECU, GT2530's and 555 injectors and daily drive at 15psi. When at the drags I like to run at ~18psi but am finding I am running too rich (I have Pro Comp Airflow meter) under WOT. I want a way to run a different map just for these runs (so don't care if the ECU doesn't retain them after power off)

So... with a datascan cable, my ultra lite laptop and ZControl Software - could I use this to run the 1/4 and play with the settings.

fraid not. you can change global timing

and fuel i think, but thats not much use for you. to temp change, you have to install a romulator, or SAFC, or full aftermarket management.

pro comp airflow meter? or air/fuel meter? how rich you running? what times you pulling?

    Opps... Air/Fuel Ratio Meter..

    should have proof read it.

Pretty rich almost all green lit up right through to redline. Best time was 12.54 but the best I could muster last week was 13.82 as the track was super slippery (we had HEAPS of rain the few days leading up) and my clutch is not so happy after 5000rpm.

Saving grace was that due to track conditions the best "streetable" time of the night was a 12.8 (White 383 Charger) and it usually runs in the 11's.

I disagree J4play. I have used exuXtend at the Drags and improved my time

by .3 sec. From 13.71sec to 13.41sec. This was after 14 months of not being able to match my best run and with a significant manifold leak. Those changes were global.
Also on the Dyno at JP's Ben was able to adjust ignition timing and fuel via my PDA and got an extra 18 rw/kw(which was 10% for my auto zed)That is a considerable jump and proved its self at DragWarz.

The laptop softwares dont have the 'self learn over-ride' like EcuXtend, so Im not sure if it would work.

The laptop softwares are designed for diagnostics more so than usable changes..

PS: I wouldnt reccommend messing with changes like that at a Drag strip without having tried them on a Dyno, get your safety perimeters first ;)

Manifold leaks fixed yet Caz? Only 3 weeks 'til Coona~ :D:D:D

fair enough. i would have thought global changes

might land you gains in some sections of rpm, but cost you in others, hence hard to improve times. certainly not the ideal way to tune.

and exuXtend doesn't allow you to switch maps (as BYE911 was asking), as this is a hardware limitation of stock ecu.

i wouldn't sell learn would make a difference in closed loop operation. any more info on this?

besides possibly this "self learn over ride", what can exuXtend do that other laptop sotwares (datascan for instance) can't?

    with this piggy back

Greddy E-manage Ultimate they say you can alter maps
for fuel & timming & just about every timing else.
I would like to talk to some one who has one on a Z32TT. Lots of info at http://www.mohdparts.com/emanage/

    Cheers Phil.

So Caz1.. you use exuXtend and load a custom map

just for the strip. I take it you can alter the fuel map at points in the RPM range and save these settings to use next time.

    no you can't.

Just get your ecu modded and swap chips for drags.

No you cant alter fuel maps at points in RPM, the changes are Global

That means they are over the entire range evenly. Below is the dyno back to back:
That was the result of +2deg timing and 88% fuel. 18rw/kw
A very nice A/F reading and similar patterned power curve, just more. :)

It is a very different product to cable and laptop. Its all on touch screen

PDA, its my digital dash, has shift light with built in 12v access. so its possible to bring in say a thermo fan at set RPM. Yes it does all the monitoring and active tests that DataScan can also. It produces colour graphs of logged info. It has 3 macro's that you can store settings for different purposes. It has coloured bar monitoring with alert colours for when you are outside safe range. The cable is hidden, the controller is in my pillar pod and it doesnt need its own seat!!
There is a website for it if anyone wants to know more.
