Broke my speed record today!!!

Got 295km/hr out of the Green beast!!! She was screaming at 7400rpm but still pulling hard. Bit touch and go on Logan Road in peak hour traffic, but hey, I feel alive. Damn seat belts haven't been working lately either so I was a bit worried.. lucky the targas were secured firmly in the boot. Is anybody safe in this world?? Not while I'm around!!!

I hit 200kms the other day, while going over the west gate bridge (80km zone) with my space saver on the left rear. The car jiggled a bit, but it felt quite stable.

 

I'd be impressed if you said you didn't pump the space saver up

 

Are you meant to inflate those?

 

well I did.....

but it was only inflated to 20psi, instead of the recommended 60....

Geez!Now I`m getting older I wouldn`t push my car that much.
But remember it`s a 295km/h speedo.
Years ago I had a Audi Quattro S2(turbo).(never saw one in Australia)
I had a cop`s friend (he was a good cop LOL) who clock me at 268km/h while I was doing 280 on the speedo.
So on high speed the speedo is not that accurate.
Anyway after 250km/h it`s highspeed.
Just be careful,you might start a war with some members in the forum about speeding lol...
Impressive record anyway.

Thats a bit high isn't it? When I did a very unofficial 304, I was at 6900rpm - why are you 500rpm higher at roughly the same speed?

I take it you have an after market ecu and stronger internals? Don't stock ecu's revlimit at 7200rpm?

 

Or down the same bit of road with a tailwind! That'll get you there.

If we both have manuals with TT diffs and similar ear tyres - at 2500 in 5th mine is doing 100kmh, which extrapolates to 300kmh at 7500. Damn similar to 295 at 7400.

 

Well at 150km/h i'm doing 4000rpm

which means I have only 3000rpm left to get to whatever the top speed is.

Does anyone know on a 4.11 diff ratio, what the speed is at 7000rpm in 5th? I'm not game to find out for myself!! :embarrassed:

Pretty obvious you're getting 37.5kph per 1000rpm in 5th.

That works out at 262.5kph @ 7000rpm in 5th. Sorry can't catch Kyne (Have to follow the Ambulance instead.)

Have you thought of trying to get to 200 with 2 space savers on?
