    Kewl man

Good to hear your all so positive about it all, Seems that no matter how low prices drop, there will be people like Cliff and Rob keeping the spirit alive :)

Lol Rob, This has nothing to do with supra vs Zed, despite driving the enemy, I still love my Zeds :zlove::zlove: My mistake was not in buying a Zed, but rather buying the wrong one, then making rash desisions based on what cost the most, not what was actually the best :( Ive learnt my lesson on that one :(

    ..oh.. Toyota BTW :p

What does the price drop mean anyway

    unless you are selling? [IMG]

Members who paid $30K several few years ago are seeing their values halved or more but so what? But they only feel it if they sell

Those of us who bought around $20 are seeing similar drops also ... But they only feel it if they sell

Those of you buying in the future for $10-12K will see your values halves or more too ...But again, you only feel it if you sell

...it's all relative ... gotta remember these were a $80K plus car in the early 90's... we buy and own these cars for the pure enjoyment, rarely do we do so for the investment factor.

Anyway, last word is the price drop doesn't matter a wazoo unless you are selling ...

And most true zed people selling their zeds seem to be exchanging for newer zeds, TT's, 2+2's etc anyway so again if they sell low now they buy low... changeover amount is the only variable you need to be concerned with ...

Let's stop all this FUD (fear-uncertainty-doubt) in its tracks and enjoy our cars.

Rule #1 IMO = take your time buying a zed, get it checked by several people (not just a mechanic), pay more for evidence of a better example, don't be blinded by low import prices- allow for a buffer equal to an engine reco $5-6K. If you haven't got that extra buffer, buy locally so you know exactly what you are getting...

In the end cars are machines

Even if you bought a car and just sat it there from new, it has started to lose value just from it leaving the showroom. This is the case for all mass produced cars.

Unless dealing with rare exotics, Japanese sports cars will generally (especially at 10ish years old) depreciate quickly.

Generally, I think that the more that you pay for a car, the more there is to lose.

I think that the value of Zeds has hit a plateau for the time being. In the end it is still a 300hp(ish) car.

As for sentimental value...it is priceless to a lot of people.

    My 2 cents.

    I agree entirely...

99% of us here don't care about the 'investment' money that is attached to the car. And most who like to upgrade the car do not car about the fact that you will input X amount of thousands of dollars for the upgrades but if you were to sell the very next day only receive X-y amount of dollars.

I loved my Zed more than any other car that I have ever owned. I loved driving it around, going on cruises, meeting new people, working on the car etc etc the list goes on.

I didn't sell my Zed because I wanted to, I sold it because I had to due to moving overseas. Unfortunately (maybe fortunately) Canadians drive on 'literally' the right side of the road so it's not liek I can move it. Do I ever have plans on owning another one... hell yeah. Will I lose money on that one too... hell yeah. But the real question is do I really care... hell no because at the end of the day, it makes me happy owning such a magnificent vehicle.

I was lucky to find a buyer who wanted the car and for very close to the price I wanted. He has now driven it back to WA (with very few problems I might add which I will allow them to disclose at their leisure about their trip home) and it seems that he is happy with everything. I'm almost glad it didn't stay in this area because I would hate to see someone else driving it around town.

Now I mgiht jsut move back to Canada and buy what I would consider to be a sports truck in the SRT10 Didge Ram truck. Imagine a Dodge Viper V10 engine in a truck doing 0-100 in low 5's. Now that is a sports vehicle built for Canada. Check it out here Dodge SRT10

not so much the value I'm worried about

It's the fact that the cars will potentially lose heaps of the status if we get more poorer people (like me to a degree, but I can at least afford to keep mine maintained) driving them round. Like if there are heaps of (scuse the term) boonger 300s, they won't seem a nice car anyway. Oh well, hopefully plenty of the Performance Forums clowns keep bagging them about being unreliable barges, and then not many people will buy them even if they do get cheaper.

I've only managed a few hours on the beast due to work committments but I'm up to removing the plenum. The radiator, fan and belts, timing belt covers etc are all off the car - everything so far has gone well but boy do you ever get frustrated working in such confined spaces.
This is turning out to be bigger then Ben Hur - but think how good it will be when it's all back together. Might go for a bit of 'bling' on the rebuild. It is so tempting to want to have everything all clean and shiny.

    Cheers

    There are absolutely amazing

I've driven one of that make before I moved over here but that was before they made the SRT10 with the Viper engine. Amazing truck though and for only around $65K Canadian I can get one...

I sure do plan on getting to see the Sydney crew before I leave and more than once for a weekend or the like and a few dinners if possible. Not having a car at the moment is a bit difficult but I am making due.

I've been meaning to get down there for a while but becauase of playing in the Aus Ice Hockey League and travelling to Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne and the like for games, most of my weekends are already taken up until after this weekend when we play in the finals at the Erina Ice World in Gosford...
