RedZedMikey RZM should now be DZM

My Z story pretty much mirrors IB's >>>

Purchased in 2000 with 63K on the clock, now about 170K. Things that have "gone wrong" are PTU, heater core and gearbox. Other problems caused by the nut behind the wheel or inadequately engineered aftermarket product. Standard maintenance includes oil + filter changes, tyre and clutch replacement, and 100K service. This '89 build car was purchased at $6K under the going rate at the time 'cos it needed (and still needs) some TLC in the body and interior department. Overall I am very happy with the buzz I still get driving it every day :YD :YD :YD.

It seems we all have a story to tell .....

Some good, some bad, but we all still love our Zeds. My Zed's been pretty reliable, but it went through a difficult time soon after I bought it. Have a read of my profile if you want to know that you're not alone.Cheers,my Zed >D< :-Z to your Zed. :YD

    I don't see how someone....

...who's eaten 2min noodles for that long can end up ten foot tall like you! ;) :D They must really pack some chemicals into those little sachets.

the secret is to eat them raw so they don't

lose all their nutrients when boiled :)Gee I must have grown 4 foot since I last looked in the mirror (something I try to avoid) :)

It seems as though, yes, we all have our stories. But, what I've noticed is that we all have had to repair our Zeds after just buying it. Myself included...still. And then, after all the initial outlay of the car and then the following repairs(not modifications) everyone has still pretty much kept their cars, save for a couple, yet the pull of the Zed is still there for them as well. So, the main reason for us buying such cars, is not that we can nessecarily afford such a car but once we can and do eventually buy one, the love affair continues over the years, through pain, angst, and the very low times, when everything just seems to go wrong and week to week it's in the shop being repaired and re-repaired. So, WE, The Australian 300ZX Owners Association are not a weak willed group who give up at the slightest rod breakage OR oil leak. Bring on the 300ZX problems and that's why the forums are here...To sought through the problems for everyone, so the "family" can grow.

    Another Chilimobile billowing smoke...

Sorry to hear of your problems. Thy are always never ending. I do agree with Chili though WRT the cooolant pipes and all... get rid of them before one of them cracks at the most in-opportune time and sprays coolant everywhereThis happened to me while I was in Sydney and thanks to Chili and a few hard workers I got it all fixed.

    My two cents worth

6:9 it is a fifteen year old "sports car" so expect to pay the proportional cost of maintaining such a sports car.
6:9 bang-for-buck it is the closest I will come to owning ferarri style and performance.
6:9 you get what you pay for, and then even the most well loved car will occasionally have problems.6:9 I hate went someone has their very "nice" car for sale at a true but relatively high price as some pimpiley faced kid goes "you got to be kidding I can buy that for 10 grand less" ...
6:9 I am tide of the same pimpiley faced kid, then coming on the forum a few months later complaining about the several thousand dollar repair bill he got to fix his bargain buy.To me there are a three kinds of zed owner::-Z the passionate (who will only sell over his/her dead body) and who puts a significant portion of their available funds into their pride and joy.
:-Z the owner who has wanted one all his/her life and can now afford to buy, and either becomes a passionate Zedder or decides to sell the "toy" at a later date.
:-Z then the fast & furious who is only interested in thrashing and trashing. ... please go buy a supra or silvia
