Eprom burner. This means that the $1500 price of chiping your car would be brought down considerably. All we need is a chiped ECU, and ill do the rest.
Installation of the ZIF ( zero inforcment ) socket is easy.
Anybody interested i can show you how, all i need is the chip. And if the owner of it wants to be present its all good there is nothing shifty going on! Its only shareware}D

Just a quick comment on this......>>

Hitech software is not "shareware" and it is not a matter of just ripping your old chip out and dropping in a new one. There are actually a couple of other minor mods done that make the program work. So if anyone is thinking of doing it please think again. Also, the sofware is individually coded so it can be traced back to the original purchaser so should a car show up in a year or two with a program that was originally sold to person A, but is now in person B's car then person A will have a date with court.Of course if any of the guys like Kalus who have written their own programs wish to share them then that is another story.PS I'm not trying to stop the ability of people getting a cheap ECU upgrade, just stopping people from doing something stupid/illegal.

    Support us!!!! As if...

No mate you mean rip us off! The programs they are using are actually modified original programms, some of them may have sat down and actually wrote them and or made their own
hardware version of the ECU. But the prices they charge are what i call " come fuck me price pack ". Soldering couple of resistor, capacitors or voltage regulators and burning an eprom and sticking in a zif socket are not what i would call expencive labor. I find that when software companies start to charge decent prices for
games & programms (not $80-$700) but reasonable prices than everybody is gonna stop downloading the stuff for free! They allready sell bilions of copys why not make it affordable and everyone will by.
As far as mecahanics, 99% of them are rip-offs regardless if they are any good or not. I only know one who is honest and does exactly as he says.

    Well.....

I know what you're saying dude, and I agree that they can be expensive. But I think you've come to the wrong place if you're looking for people to "lend" you a chip of sorts. The more popular brand here is probably Hitec, designed by Bob to run with Oz fuel, and he is located in Vic. I think you'll be hard pressed to find someone who's just gonna hand over bobs programming. Why you ask?? Because he is a zed owner himself, member of this forum and has put years of testing and time into both the NA and TT chips. Apart from that, you can easily call him and he is always willing to help out if something is not right. Not to mention that he has thousands of dollars worth of equipment to diagnose your car, equipment that some backyarder just will not have. Will you provide customer support if something goes wrong with the chip that you write or copy for someone? Also, all of bobs chips have a unique serial identification number so if a copy turns up in someone elses car, lots of legal questions will be asked. Basically, Hitec is an actual registered company, so get caught copying their chips and you'll find yourself in court.Cheers

    I see your point

The only problem that in the young days i got burned by people like Zshop and created because i did not know much about the car.
The more i learned the more i realised how much of a ripoffs these people can be i love my car, and befor i let any body else touch it i wanna know i am getting the real deal with no bullshit consequences so i decided to do most things my self. This website is awesome, i love the tech page, and i liked the crowd i met on GOR cruise. One more question did bob write the programm used in the ecu's he fixes, if this is so than i will give up on this without no problems but if he only modified the original Nissan programm.I only ask because i was writing programms for microcontrollers before and i am very interested.
The ammount of power the ecu upgrade brings is very amasing so i am testing the field. Thanx for your post jedi i know you are great guy.

    Ohhh dear.

I agree... most of the aftermarket chips are simply a copy of someone elses base work and then refined slightly.
Yeah it's a rip off in my opinion. *shrugs*

  8. Sad but true

I have been screwed by Nissan in Roma with my Z31. They had it for 4 weeks and didn't find the faulty air flow sensor and throttle position sensor as i found, from info off this forum and the bastards charged me $1300 for their "trouble". The promblem is now fixed but cost another $1100 for sensors and labour. What mechanics can you trust?????

    For Mark

Yes it's sead@aapt.net.auI am a programmer, i am not a guy who is ought to destroy the others by copying their stuff.
For example Jim Wolf chips now that is a truly reengineered ecu. I want to pay for everything i get i just simply do not want to get ripped off!Look i took my car to Z-shop for a faulty oil pressure readings he charged me $110 and three months later the damns sensor fucked up anyway.
I took my beloved zed to CREATD to get my blowoff valves fitted he charged me $200 and fitted it under the bonnet, one was rubbing on the fan and they only went of at about 5000RPM, later i discovered on the internet that you can just "replace" them, did it me self and they kick ass. By the way the guy at CREATD is an idiot because he told me the original blow off valves were " somwhere in the engine bay to diffiult to remove" after i asked to simply replace them, and after three days of bullshit i got my car back whith shitty blow off's. You gotta understand my bitterness, just tell me how much work would be involved to make those adjustable rear upper control arms that john sells, ill bet no more than $120 - $180. I got a mate that works in a factory with a laserjet cutter and welding and stuff, i see the ammount of the problems they fix
but $500 int that a little to much especially if they are making 20-30 pieces at a time, come on fellows lets not get too greedy, if they were cheaper i would be buyning them for me mate as abirthday present!

    What do you mean?

That Jim Wolf PROMS are often copied and modified by others and then claimed to be their own IP? Or that Jim has copied others?
I know of folks zealously selling slightly modified JWT PROMS as their own property.

are very good and dude if i had a chip i would hand it over in a heart beat, power to the people i say. If these big business start seeing people making these own or finding cheaper alternatives than the prices will come down because they are forced to.GOOD LUCK DUDE :)p.s. i wouldnt worry too much about getting taken to court dude they would waste so much money on legals and enforcing patents it wouldnt be worth there trouble. They are just scare taticsp.s.s. flame me im ready :)

    I think

that jim wolf has his "own" written technology, but others once you write a programm ( and if it happens that you got inspired by someone elses) who is there to proove it? I am a programmer, all i need is the code and i am working on a way of getting my original extracted from my ecu, all i am saying if anyone wants to join in i will make it right, and no court gan do god damn thing about it, even if someone tells on me!By the way in the beginning i thought everyone on this forum was so badly against it that they were cops or supermilionairs and wanna just keep wasting their money.
I now see that it is not so, i cant always by everything with money so i do it with my big fat brain and lots of cafeeine, cause family comes firs!

I know one, that is honest but does mostly

clutches, but a good mechanic the only one that doesnt lie. When my PTU failed i said i will pay you to find out what it is, you know what he said: " ill only gonna stick it here in the garage hire a sparky and charge you for his time my trouble and your idiocy, but here is a number ring a guy hell come to your house and fix it up for cheaper". Now that is something you do not hear anywhere else!
If you live in melbourne i can get you his number he does really good and really cheap clutches!

    BlueZ Oldie but a goodie

How long do you think it takes?

I agree with you that the labour to install a new chip is very little. What you do not see is the hundreds of hours that go into developing an eprom.
I develop custom business software in my spare time. Once I have a product ready to ship, I have to decide how much to charge. To work that out, I look at the number of hours I've spent developing it (hundreds to thousands) and divide it by the number of expected customers (divided by 2 because only half the prospective customers will actually buy the program).
I recently charged a customer $30K for a program. They were happy to pay 'cos I'm about 1/10 the price of full commercial operations. That may seem excessive, but believe me, it's not that much compared to the amount of work I've put in.
Please recognise that the people who develop stuff for our Z have to make it pay. It probably doesn't pay a lot when looked at an hourly rate (I'm not even game to think about it). Pay up, you'll get the benefits in the long run.
    See Ya,
    Garry
