Saw this morning on the Today Show that fixed speed cameras in victoria have stopped being used because another camera was found to be faulty. In NSW in Sydney coming out of the Spit-Bridge there are 3 fixed speed cameras and it is possible to get caught twice within 15secs. These (three or was it one) camera raises $20000/day (yes twenty thousand dollars); and catches about 4 cars every 12 seconds.
And government does not cause that fund-raising.fixed speed cameras :N(
cop with hair dryer :YD [at least you know right away instead of in a months time; month later is doing nothing to stop speeding]

    That's not quite right....

they still taking pics but all fines are suspended till they find out if cameras are faulty and only in that case you don't have to pay. If cameras are ok you still have to pay.

These cameras are a classic case >>>

of guilty until proven innocent. GRRRRRRRR - not that I've been nabbed recently, I just hate the concept.

some people probably lose their jobs

default on loans and probably big family dramas due to faulty speed cameras. That has gotta totally suck.its guilty until prooven innocent, and even if found innocent, plenty of damage may have already been done :(I wonder where all that money is going?

    At least in NSW...

... fixed cameras are well signposted.
Spit road may have 3 cameras but at least 12 signs (will count em one day)
Agree tho... there has never been a drunk driver caught by speed camera!! Not many unlicensed ones either!
